Safety, trust & environment

I’m known in the rescue I volunteer with as being especially good with shy/scared/feral cats. I give them lots of play time to break through their fear and win them over so they can get some love. Churu tubes are always a win as long as the kitties don’t have allergies. I ensure feeding and medical schedules are followed and make suggestions on things that can be done to prolong a healthy cat life or ways to enrich the environment for them. Things like, adding water to wet food as felines don’t drink nearly enough. Tools that can be used to redirect cats that scratch up furniture so they use their trees, scratch pads, etc. I promote healthier and more environmentally sustainable litter options that maybe cat people aren’t aware of. Certified in surrender prevention I can offer consultations for undesirable behaviours (litter box/aggression issues, etc)

Information Courtney B. would like to know about your pet

For the cats I care for, it’s important to know their feeding schedule, diet, medications they may require/dosages and times, their likes and dislikes, if they have any allergies or any special needs. Any particular behaviours they may have that are typical for them. (Hunger strikes after day 3, sometimes had blood in feces but takes certain medications, etc)

A typical day

I’m here for cats, so a typical day involves cleaning water and food bowls, giving them fresh water, feeding dry kibble and wet food with added water. Administering required medications and checking over the cats’ body to ensure there are no sore/dirty areas that need tending to. If any wounds or tenderness is present, I clean the area and assess whether they should be seen immediately or if an appointment can be made for a vet visit within the next 3 days. Give a thorough brushing, clip nails if needed. I then clean the litter boxes, give them a wash if needed. Look for messes and clean them up. Play time can include throwing the ball or springs (2 of my own cats play fetch) laser pointer play, wand toys or interactive toys. Cuddles include head kisses, paw pets, belly rubs if tolerated, chin and neck scritches. Repeat play time in the afternoon. Repeat full morning routine at night.

Cat care experience

I’ve cared for many kitties since I was a kid. Caring for sick cats, administering medications, socializing shy/scared/feral cats and giving them all the love they deserve is what I live for. I volunteer with a local cat rescue and also foster for them. I’m passionate about providing enrichment for indoor cats and guiding cat parents who may be having difficulties with behavioural kitties.

We are really fortunate that Courtney was available and could accommodate our last-minute request. She opened her arms to our cats and communicates effectively. Her love for all animals is apparent, and I am glad she has so much experience.
