Autistic Pet Lover | Long-Term Sits

Hi! I’m Xarissa Alexsondra (legal name Corissa)—please call me Alexsondra. I specialize in cats and also welcome calm, low-energy dogs who only need short potty walks, plus small pets like snakes or fish. I’m available for long-term stays of three weeks or longer only (shorter gigs aren’t a fit). As a person on the autistic spectrum, I feel most at ease with cats and quiet, predictable pets. I’m naturally attuned to body language and individual quirks, and I stay calm and consistent with the routines many cats and introverted dogs prefer. I may seem a bit reserved with new people at first—please be patient. Your pets will get my full, focused attention. I grew up with multiple dogs and cats and have experience with fish, snakes, lizards, hermit crabs, chickens, quail, and ducks. I’m comfortable with cage cleaning, daily feline and canine routines, and the small details that keep animals comfortable. You’ll receive detailed updates and photos so you’ll always know how your pets are doing. I’m reliable, observant, and happiest in the company of cats, calm dogs, and the occasional snake.

Safety, trust & environment

I understand the trust it takes to leave your home and pets with someone else, and I take that responsibility seriously. You’ll receive detailed photo updates so you always know how everyone is doing. I care for cats in the client’s home only (I do not board pets in my own space). One of the strengths of being autistic is that I follow clear, straightforward instructions with high precision and consistency. Tell me exactly how you want feeding, litter, medication, play, and any other routines handled, and I will stick to them closely. I’m naturally attuned to feline body language and stay calm and steady, which many cats prefer. I’m reliable, respectful of your home, and focused on keeping your cats comfortable and secure.

Man, Xarissa is pretty great. I’ve had to go out of town on multiple occasions, and she’s taken care of my 3 large dogs every time. She is one of the handful of people I would ever trust with my dogs.

Xarissa has been my favorite pet-sitter - she has been the most caring and attentive, especially to my cats that I've experienced, including when one of them was having a hard time. I've appreciated her so much. When she's been available, I've known I didn't have to worry, as I have sometimes with other people, especially having unusual and sensitive pets like quail, along with the furry, part-of-the-family ones that need affection and love. She's also always friendly, present, and receptive in the conversations we've had. She has taken care of multiple pets for me, over time.

Xarissa took great care of my sweet pup and my apartment while I was traveling. She’s sweet, respectful, responsive, and very reliable. She was super flexible with my schedule, and was easy to work with. I highly recommend her for pet/house-sitting!

Xarissa has helped us care for our animals many times out here in the country when we've been traveling. Dogs, cats, chickens and ducks have all been well cared for in our absence. She communicated well, and we always felt like our animals and our home were in good hands. Would recommend!

Schedule

I’m a homebody with a part-time job that takes me out of the house for 5–8 hours on just one or two days a week. The rest of the week I’m home all day with the cats, or I may step out for a short excursion and then return for the remainder of the day. This rhythm lets me provide calm, consistent care and stick to the quiet routines most cats prefer. I only accept long-term stays of three weeks or longer.

Corissa can host up to 1 pet per night
Please share your pet’s usual energy level, temperament, and how they act when you’re away (independent vs. needy or anxious). I only sit for calm cats and low-energy, well-mannered dogs, and I do short walks only (about 15–20 minutes)—not long or high-energy outings. It also helps to know barking/meowing, reactivity, bite history, separation anxiety, feeding and potty routines, medications, indoor vs. outdoor access, and anything that startles or overstimulates them. A meet-and-greet in your home is required so we can confirm it’s a good fit.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
