Adventures with a dog lover.

Heya, my name is Core Ocean but I generally go by just Ocean, and dogs make up a large percentage of my life. Dogs are what make sense to me. For the last 18 years I've been working in the industry with dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments. I've fostered, worked full time in the NZ SPCA, worked in three different types of dog daycares, walked, boarded and even taken dogs on holidays. I'm confident walking individuals and packs on or off lead. I've had puppies, nursing mothers, senior dogs and everything in-between. I'm comfortable with reactive dogs, have spent plenty of time with unneutered dogs and females in season. I've had plenty of experience handling big dogs, challenging dogs, and the combination of both. I offer clear communication, regular updates and pictures. I'm fully insured, first aid trained, professional and have very high standards regarding my care of dogs. A walk isn't just a walk; I provide stimulation and enrichment, in the form of games and training. I value building a trusting relationship with the dog as much as their human. I pour my love in. Please note pricing: Walk: $25 per 30 minute walk OR $45 per 1 hour walk Day care: $50 per day 8am to 5pm Boarding night only: $40 6pm to 8am Boarding 24 hours: $60 per 24 hours, 6pm to 6pm

Doggy Day Care • Aug 12, 2026

I could tell the moment I met Ocean that she is a true dog person. She immediately knelt down to Bingo's level, gave him lots of affection, and let him come to her at his own pace. It was obvious how much she genuinely loves dogs. When I picked Bingo up, he was happily exhausted from all his adventures and had even learned a new skill! Ocean kept me updated with the cutest photos and was always quick to respond, which gave me real peace of mind while I was away. I would happily trust her with Bingo again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, attentive sitter.

Would absolutely trust Ocean with any dog. I could learn from her experience, especially with puppies! She was fantastic with our 10 week old.

House Sitting • May 26, 2026

Ocean was the best person we could have left our anxious, new rescue boy with. We were nervous to leave him for the first time, but Ocean has a demeanor that easily puts pups (and their owners) at ease. She had our dog busy and attended to all weekend, and we came home to a very happy and relaxed dog. Thank you Ocean!!

Our 7 month pup had the best weekend with Core! They clearly had an in depth knowledge of animal care, and was patient, kind, and attentive to everything our pup needed! We loved seeing the adventures they went on and would recommend them to others 😊

Ocean is an amazing dog sitter. You can tell from the moment you meet her that she is a dog person. She took wonderful care of our reactive herding dog, making an extra effort to get to know her beforehand. She sent us tons of updates and photos and we felt very comfortable leaving our crazy dog in her hands.

Safety, trust & environment

The dogs comfort comes first, always! When I'm boarding I give your dog my undivided attention. They are never left on their own unless agreed previously (typically in longer term situations). There is always access to a fully fenced outdoor area. Whatever your dogs needs are, they will be met. In a house sitting situation I keep a clean and tidy space, making sure all house rules are followed.

A typical day

This depends on the needs of the dog. They always have access to both an indoor and outdoor space. The average healthy dog gets two longer walks and one shorter walk a day, with rest and play time in between. Walks are more than just exercise, they are stimulation for the brain; thus we take various routes to keep things fresh and interesting. Play comes from your dogs preferences. I generally include a little training for enrichment purposes. Cuddles are available at all times.
