Availability
Aside from a few virtual appointments, I have a lot of flexibility throughout my day. Your pets would be my top priority - I’d love to go for long walks, play outside, and/or meet a new study buddy :)

Safety, trust & environment
Safety is my top priority when it comes to pet-sitting. I am certified in Pet First Aid through the National Association of Pets and Pet Sitters. Additionally, through my volunteer position at the Animal Welfare League, I pursued extra coursework through the Fear Free Shelters program to learn about rescue pet welfare and animal psychology. Most recently, when my pair of 8-week-old foster puppies fell ill, I took them to the vet and learned how to administer various oral medications. I provided care at all hours of the day and night, successfully nursing them back to health. Beyond my qualifications, I've been described as exuding quiet confidence that puts animals and people at ease. I prioritize gentleness and kindness in all of my animal interactions; with your pets, I'd focus on minimizing stress because I know how attached pets and their humans are.
Information Cora M. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your pet has any unique needs I should give special care to! Also, if they have a daily routine or places they already love to visit, give me all the details so I can provide them with as much comfort and consistency as possible while you're away. I also always request preferred veterinary contact information!
A typical day
My volunteer, fostering, and personal pet experience has shown me that all dogs are different. I would love to give your dog their individually perfect day - whether that means a long walk through Bluemont Park, a high-energy game of tug-of-war, a cuddle session by the TV, or a spa day with fur brushing.

Pet care experience
Hi! I’m Cora, a student majoring in Food Science in Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. I grew up in Arlington and will be staying here for the rest of the spring and summer. As a lifelong caretaker and lover of animals, I am really excited to join Rover and show some love to the pets here. I have always been obsessed with animals, and my experience in a variety of contexts makes me confident I can give your pet the best possible care while you’re away. I practically grew up in my local animal shelter, reading to rescue cats and waiving adoption fees through bake sales. As soon as I was old enough, I became an official volunteer, responsible for socializing animals, walking dogs, and adhering to the highest safety and sanitation standards. I became certified in rescue pet welfare through the Fear Free Shelter program, giving me the knowledge necessary to put shy dogs at ease. I also foster puppies through the Lost Dog Rescue foundation, giving me a firm grasp on the needs of younger dogs, from potty training to administering medication. Need a sitter for an exotic pet? No problem! In high school, I took a Career and Technical Education class in the advanced small animal sciences. I gained hands-on experience with countless pet species, from leopard geckos to chinchillas to cockatiels (and everything in between!) I also wrote a research report on the welfare of the school’s rabbits, taught the class cats how to high-five, and became certified in pet first aid through the National Association of Pets and Pet Sitters. Your pet is your family, and as a college student, I deeply understand what it means to be apart from them. Trust me to treat them with as much love, kindness, and respect as I show my own pets. I can’t wait to meet them!

Reviews

Cora was easy to communicate with, timely, and responsive. I appreciate her providing notes and photos, making me feel confident that Dixie was well taken care of while I was away from home. Thank you, Cora!

Working with Cora has been great! She is on time and very patient with my anxious dog, she sends a lot of pictures and very easy to communicate with! Would definitely recommend!
We have been very happy with the care Cora provided for our cat Beansprout. Cora was reliable and easy to work with, she didn’t just change the kitty litter and feed and play with our cat, but she would also send photos and send updates which appreciated! I recommend Cora for your cat and dog sitting needs!
I can’t recommend Cora McCabe highly enough! I have known Cora for about 13 years, and she has always had a wonderful way with animals. She cared for my dogs over the years and more recently during a very difficult time when he was extremely ill, and she went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable, safe, and loved. Her patience, kindness, and attention to detail gave me such peace of mind knowing my precious pup was in the best hands. She’s reliable, compassionate, and truly treats every animal like her own. Any pet would be lucky to have her as a walker or sitter!
