I also like to know their temperament—whether they’re shy, playful, anxious, or reactive—and how they behave around new people, other animals, or loud environments. Understanding their favorite activities, comfort items, and any fears or triggers helps me keep them happy and calm. Clear information about house rules, crate training, and what’s allowed (like furniture or treats) ensures consistency. The more I know ahead of time, the easier it is to create a safe, smooth, and stress-free experience for both the pet and their owner.

When I watch pets, I make sure they enjoy a mix of fun, comfort, and enrichment tailored to their personality. Dogs get relaxing sniff-walks, backyard playtime, fetch or tug games, and mental stimulation like treat puzzles or simple command practice. Cats enjoy interactive play with wand toys or lasers, cozy window-watching sessions, gentle brushing, and treat-hunting for enrichment. I also spend plenty of calm cuddle time with pets who enjoy affection, while giving space to those who prefer quiet companionship. No matter the animal, I keep their routine consistent, offer lots of love, and send cute photo updates so owners always know how their pet is doing.
