My flexible schedule is very conducive for blending with the needs of those looking for pet care, whether that includes house sitting, check-ins, or walks. I only provide house sitting through Rover, so rest assured my attention will be solely on your home and pets and not split by doing dog walks or check-ins with other clients.

My biggest priority in pet sitting is thorough communication. By having a thoughtful dialogue, we can determine if we are a good fit for each other. I ask lots of questions and take copious notes. I want to know exactly how you’d like your pet(s) to be treated and your home/property to be looked after. Having clear, reciprocal expectations helps both parties feel secure, safe, and confident. You cannot give me too much information when it comes to the care of your pets and home. Happy pets and satisfied clients make me feel good! Before caring for a cat or a dog, I always brush up on the specific temperament, traits, and behavior of the particular breed. Of course, the best information about your pet(s) comes directly from you. I also have a simple checklist I'll go over with you to ensure the wellbeing of your home and property.

Information Colin B. would like to know about your pet

Anything that you think is important to relay to me, I want to know. You can't give me too much information! It's helpful for me to be familiar with your pet's anxiety and aggression triggers, as well as how they like (and don't like) to be touched. To be consistent with their life at home, it's helpful for me to know what commands they respond to, what time they go to sleep and wake up, and their meal/medication times. It's also good for me to know their favorite treats in case I really need to get their attention! In the unlikely case of an emergency, I like to have your pet's vet info handy.

A typical day

I like to know how you usually spend time with your pets in your home. It's important that I offer your pets familiarity during your trip, as it can be stressful for them to be separated. I am very adaptable and like to engage with your pets in the ways that you usually do.

Pet care experience

Hello! Thanks for reading my profile. It's a bit lengthy, but I aim to include relevant info for discerning pet owners that prefer a highly responsible, communicative, and detail-oriented pet-care provider. I am able to be present and attentive with your animals through much of each day during house sits. I'm also extremely reliable - I've never canceled a service after it's been booked (and I've done over 74 collective weeks of pet sitting jobs). Before coming to Rover, I did pet sitting on another platform for ~4 years (where all reviews I received were 5 stars as well). I've done sits as long as 8 consecutive weeks and as short as one night, and I've cared for as many as 24 animals in a single sit. As a kid, I was the go-to nephew/cousin/relative for caring for dogs in my family. I was surrounded by canine love growing up, leading me to have a strong intuition in reading dogs. I also have experience doing basic care for farm animals such as chickens, goats, horses, and rabbits. In my previous sits I’ve cared for dogs that were purebreds, seniors, rescues, anxious, reactive, herding/protective, high-energy, low-energy, large, small, fosters, and hospice fosters. I'm physically very strong (good for handling large, reactive dogs), but I have a gentle approach to animals. For cats, I’ve cared for those that were indoor, outdoor, special needs, and feral. I didn't grow up with cats, but I've learned to love them as an adult. I've been told by many cat owners that their cats warmed up to me more quickly compared to other strangers.

Colin’s quality care started at our first meeting when he asked comprehensive questions about caring for Nala and our home. He kept us posted on Nala while we were away and we returned to a neat, clean house and a happy cat. Really couldn’t be more pleased!

Colin stayed with our two dogs for a week over the holidays. He was great! He was diligent about following our care instructions, communicated frequently, and left the house cleaner than he found it. Highly recommend!

We couldn't have asked for a better sitter than Colin. He took incredible care of both our hound and our home while we were away, giving us total peace of mind. Our dog was clearly happy and well-loved in his care, and we returned to a house that was exactly as we left it. If you’re looking for someone reliable, respectful, and great with animals, we highly recommend Colin!
