Information Coleen & Francis A. would like to know about your pet

Coleen does most of the dog walking and can handle some leash reactivity quite confidently, but we ask that you don’t leave this information as a surprise. We love to know the strengths and challenges of every pup — we all have them! That will help us understand their needs and reactions, and to meet them with compassion. Please advise if shoes or furniture are likely to be chewed! :) Incontinence issues are not a deal breaker, but please provide as much info as possible. Details about separation anxiety are helpful, as well as preference for sleeping routines. Additionally we both have some sound sensitivity, so please let us know if your dog is a 24/7 barker or has a particularly shrill bark. This is pretty much the only condition we won’t be able to manage. Thank you in advance for your openness!

A typical day

The Halifax Commons is just a few blocks from our house. It’s a great place to meet a few other dogs, if they like that sort of thing. We can also do off leash walks at Point Pleasant, if your dog has excellent recall and we’ve built a good rapport. For active dogs, some hikes or beach walks could be discussed. If your dog is more of an indoors/backyard kind of pup, then we’ll keep it close to home and get lots of cuddle time in. Cats get lots of fun playtime with toys on the carpeted stairs, and extra cuddles on the couch!

Pet care experience

Francis and I both grew up with various breeds of cats and dogs in the household, and recently had to say goodbye to our own senior domestic short hair cat and senior black lab dog. Our shared calming presence supports a natural connection with animals, and we love the company they provide. We value getting to know each little being! We also know what it’s like to leave your pets with a sitter, so trust us when we say that the wellbeing of your furry friends is our absolute priority. We have experience in senior care, including administering medication, eye drops, mobility assistance, and diaper duty. We can confidently provide 24/7 care as Francis has a flexible schedule allowing his presence at home as needed. Coleen works full time outside of the home and tends to take care of the evening walks and pet duties.

Ollie had a wonderful stay with Coleen and Francis. They provided lots of updates while we were away so I could relax and enjoy myself. They are also easy to get ahold and responded to messages quickly. Would book again!

Coleen stayed in our home with our pets and was fantastic. She immediately put us and our pets at ease during our initial meeting, and followed all of our instructions to a T. On our return home, we immediately noticed how at ease our pets were, which speaks to how well she kept them on their schedules and all of the love and attention she provided. We would love to have Coleen back in the future, and highly recommend her!

We boarded our cat, Jack, with Coleen & Francis and it was a great experience! I would absolutely do it again. We got pictures during the week reassuring us that he was doing great and they took wonderful care of him! I thought it might actually be a struggle to bring him home!
