The in-home sitting with my senior dog (15.5 years old) has really left a bad taste in my mouth. I feel the need to share it so others aren’t led astray by the overwhelmingly positive reviews as I was. I was gone from a Monday to the following Wednesday, a little over a week. Other than letting me know he made it there, I didn’t receive a single other communication from Cole unless I prompted him to ask if everything was going ok. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by precious sitters providing daily updates, often including photos, to let me know things were ok, but I got zilch from Cole. As a pet parent to a senior dog with a new sitter for the first time, it didn’t give me a lot of comfort to have not a single update for days on end. When I got home early in the morning, I even had to reach out to ask if the dog had gone outside (yes) or been fed breakfast (no). I’ve never been left wondering what had or hadn’t been taken care of when coming back from a trip. If I hadn’t asked about food, she would’ve missed breakfast and gone 24 hours without eating (not a big deal for younger dogs, but definitely not good for an older dog needing medications). She has two different supplements she takes via tincture (the little droppers for liquids). The two CBD bottles were lying flat in the container, leaking everywhere. That stuff isn’t cheap, and a lot was wasted. The kidney supplement was also lying flat, behind her food, leaking everywhere (another one that’s not cheap) all over the cabinets. Because of where it was in the cabinet (back behind her food), I don’t know if she’d been given any, despite letting him know in the instructions about her kidney disease. In addition to needing to clean up the mess made by the tipped-over supplements when I got home, the house wasn’t even close to as clean as I left it. Counters needed to be wiped down, something had been spilled on the floor in front of the dog food, the fridge had had something spilled all over the outside, coffee was spilled in front of the coffee machine (grinds all over the floor and in one of the cabinets, coffee dripped down a cabinet door), something sticky was on the floors, filthy rag was left on the counter (so disgustingly crusted with whatever it was I threw it away), soy sauce packet or wasabi or something was left on the counter…none of it was bad and all of it cleaned up easily, but it would’ve taken him all of 20 min to clean up after the messes he’d made. Instead, I had to clean it up after getting home from a redeye flight, time I much rather would’ve spent with my dog and getting settled in. Not a great way to come home.

Our pup had a great time with Cole. Lots of walks, good communication, and the house was left in great shape. Will use Cole again.

Cole is great. He watched our beloved pups for 5 nights and we came home to very happy dogs and a clean home. We are so grateful to him and would recommend him to anyone.

I am happy to take care of animals with special needs. The more information I get upfront, the better. I have not come across a dog that I did not love being around.
