As I stated I’m a disabled veteran, and boarding dogs affords me the opportunity to make my own schedules especially regarding my children. I’m able to provide frequent potty breaks and usually take two long walks a day, depending on the size & age of the dog. I’ve owned German Shepherds, Great Danes, Pit bulls, Cocker Spaniels, & the lovable typical mixed pup. My girlfriend likes to bring her dog over & play with the different dogs I have under my care or I’ll bring them to her house with a nice big fenced in backyard, she loves dogs as much as I do & regularly hosts the dogs I board in her home as well. We like to take them to dog parks or breweries that have nice outdoor spaces & let them mingle and socialize. I’ve taken clients dogs to Bark in the Park at the Charlotte Knights stadium. it depends entirely on the dog and their temperament, I will notify you if I’m taking them anywhere. When I have my kids, my son especially, loves to cuddle & play with all the dogs, and they tend to always sleep on the floor in front of the kids bunk beds or literally in the bed with him. I only crate dogs if that’s what they’re used to overnight or to leave the house. Your dog will NOT be kept in a crate for the stay, only when it’s required, overnights, or leaving the house. For the most part they will be playing and exploring on their own. I do not take aggressive dogs, & have specific ways of introducing dogs to one another. If you’re dog has never been boarded before or had the opportunity to meet other dogs in a social environment, this is something important I need to know to prepare them for their stay.

As I previously stated I will tailor my approach to your pet by taking cues from them & their behavior as to what they may want or need. Some animals are so easy & take separation from their owners as if they were never there. While some however do not take the initial separation well. Some dogs become more “aggressive” or anxious when coming into contact with other dogs, my girlfriends dog for example. However, I do possess the adequate knowledge, skills, & experience to help lessen those puppy cries, to introduce them to other dogs calmly and peacefully, to let them figure out what a cat is in a safe way. I’ve had dogs in many different capacities throughout my life, whether my own dog(s), assisting dog handlers while in Afghanistan, rescuing lost dogs on the farm out in the country in PA, or with the dozens upon dozens of dogs I’ve boarded through Rover. I will go above & beyond and do my best to continually update you & provide at least 2x daily pictures or videos, they are for the most part just updates, some will be quick videos of us on a walk while others will be playtime with other dogs or the kids, you do not have to respond, it’s simply my way of keeping you updated on what’s going on, I will ask questions if I have them. One thing I consistently hear is that I’m quick to respond and that I provide constant updates and photos/videos. I realize & understand that plans change. It’s not uncommon to modify a booking either shorter or longer depending on the circumstances, don’t stress if your flight gets delayed or cancelled altogether, it’s more common then you might think, that’s why I ask for extra food. Some owners aren’t sure how their pet reacts with other dogs, bigger dogs, multiple dogs, kids, cats, etc. if that’s the case I recommend a meet & greet, figure out if I’m the right sitter for you & your family.

Information Cody H. would like to know about your pet
I prefer to use harness's while walking other peoples dogs, or perhaps a prong collar, something more secure so they cannot easily pull out from, bring their crate if they have one, enough food for the intended stay & extra just in case, their dog bed if they have one or any blankets/pillows they may use, their favorite toys, treats or bones(I like to give lots of rewards), leash, their food & water bowls, anything else you can think of. I have a label maker so I will attempt to label everything, however if you do that beforehand it is appreciated.
A typical day
We always take long walks, again depending on the size of the dog will determine the length of the walk. There’s a dog park in my complex I usually take the dogs there during the day. Depending on the length of the stay, I may take them to a different dog park, a dog bar or brewery, If the owner is okay with it, I’ll sometimes take the dog I’m boarding to my girlfriend’s house and along with her dog will run and play throughout her big fenced in back yard. My kids love to play fetch and basically play tag and run around and will absolutely wear them down.

Pet care experience
I grew up on a farm in Northeast PA & throughout my life & have cared for hundreds of different animals, everything from horses & cows to orphaned opossums (eww) & a baby fox. I currently have one cat, Annie, sometimes I’ll go several days without seeing her, so she doesn’t really have any effect on boarding cats & dogs, if you’re concerned about them getting along, I can promise it won’t be an issue. Depending on the cat or dog, they’ll either get along, or most likely just completely ignore each other. My family bred German Shepherds when I was a kid for several years, so training puppies and dogs isn’t something I’m necessarily new to. I try to make it a fun experience, I’ll spoil them with walks & treats, & lots of playtime especially when I have my kids, I get them every weekend & I promise my children will have more energy than your dog and wear them out completely. I’m a disabled veteran and this is what I do full-time, so other than brief outings I will be with your pet basically 24/7. My girlfriend & kids are all dog lovers as well & they’ll 100% assist me, loving & spoiling your puppy dog. Here's the deal, I'm not claiming to be the dog whispering Caesar Milan, but I do possess the knowledge & skills to not only watch your furry friend but to actually care for them. Every animal is different & I will alter my approach in different ways. If your dog loves to play with other dogs then they can play until the break of dawn, or if you've got yourself a bit of a lazy bones & they want to sleep on the shady balcony all day, well that's just fine too. I understand that I'm not only caring for your pet, but a member of your family. I appreciate that some pet parents love & care for them as if they are their children. In fact, some may secretly like their pets more than their children, if that's the case that's fine I don’t judge. (Either you've got some exceptionally awesome pets or some exceptionally terrible children) I understand how important taking responsibility of your pet is & how important they are to you. I will not take charge of your four legged companion without all parties, including your pet, being as close to happy & content as paws-ible because let's face it, there's nothing I can do to make them as happy as they are then when they're with you. I try to be as flexible as possible because I do know that things change & I will do my best to accommodate your requests. If you would like to book a stay, or would like to do have a meet & greet I recommend doing it at my house, I find it makes the most sense to have you & your pet come to the place where they will be staying. Please let me know what I can do to help alleviate any concerns or questions you may have & thank you for your interest.

Reviews

Cody was able to take Tux on short notice and provided excellent care. I received pictures and videos all throughout his stay. Unfortunately I ran into some flight delay issues and he was extremely understanding and flexible with me for pick up. I definitely recommend, 10/10!

Cody was awesome, very responsive and sent multiple pics and videos each day. Will definitely use him again in the future.

Everything was great with Cody! My dog seemed happy and well cared for.

Cody was great! We had to leave our dog with Cody for 11 nights and I was so nervous because we were new to the area. He allowed us to do a meet and greet before booking and I could just tell immediately that he loved animals. Cody sent videos or pics every day and had great communication. Once we picked up Oliver he slept and hung lazily around the house which means that he had so much fun with the other animals! Ollie easily adjusted back to his schedule with us thanks to Cody's care. Thank you!
