―BEST PRACTICES― I have a set of best practices that I've accumulated from shelter and Rover experience: I wash or sanitize my hands before drop-ins and can change clothes between households if requested. I short-leash dogs indoors, crossing streets, and passing pedestrians, and pay attention to my surroundings to identify triggers before they approach. I am attentive to cat body language to minimize stress, fear, and overstimulation while maximizing enrichment. Please don't hesitate to let me know if there's anything I can do to better cater to your pet's needs.

Information Clytie Q. would like to know about your pet

Please walk me through the commands and/or routines I should use for your pet and their usual behavior during these routines. I'll always be careful and observant, but don't forget to warn me about quirks like escape artists and individual triggers. Checklist below for reference-- feel free to use or ignore. General: -What's my entry method (spare keys, passwords, etc.) and where can I park? -Does your pet struggle with people, children, or other pets in any way? -Is your pet triggered by certain sights, sounds, smells, or sensations? Drop-in specific: -What is the location and schedule for food/water, potty, treats and toys? -Does your pet need play, cuddles, quiet time, or something else? What are their favorite things to do? Dog walk specific: -What are your leash/collar/harness and treats rules? -Are there routes that I should or shouldn't use?

A typical day

―TYPICAL DOG WALK― I short-leash indoors, crossing streets, and passing pedestrians. For strong dogs sometimes I jog a block at the beginning to get the excitement out and make the rest of the walk easier for both of us, but I'm definitely no runner. For slower dogs, I never drag and I'm happy to let them sniff to their heart's content. I'll always calibrate our route to your dog's energy level! ―TYPICAL CAT DROP-IN― With cats, I'm happy to play, cuddle, pretend to ignore-- whatever they show interest in. I usually start with greetings and cuddles and transition to toys and treats when they stop asking for pets. At any stage, if they become uninterested, I give them space and wrap up any chores we might have interrupted. I tone down interaction towards the end of the visit to help them transition back to alone time.

Detail-oriented animal lover :)

Pet care experience

―BIO― Hi! My name is Clytie and I'm sitting/walking pets during my break from university. I've loved pets all my life and I've been volunteering at my local animal shelter for about 2 years now. I keep active through rock climbing and I'm not squeamish about chores, so don't hesitate to put me on pet care tasks. ―INFO― Communication is very important to me as a sitter/walker. I prefer to get the details down before you entrust your precious pets to me. Please scroll down for the "Requested information..." section to see what I look for in a meet-n-greet (aka Rover-speak for an initial meeting before your booking starts). ―EXPERIENCE― 🐱 I am super comfortable with cats as I have a lot of experience with them, including extra shy, spicy, or just plain stressed kitties. I can't think of a better feeling than when a cat starts opening up to me and showing me their unique personalities. 🐶 I started walking dogs this year so I know the basics of canine body language and dog-walking practices, but I'm still looking to build my hands-on experience. I'd love to care for your well-behaved small or medium sized dog for an affordable price as part of my learning experience. ―FUN FACT― The cat I'm holding in my profile picture belongs to my family back in New York. She was a skittish rescue that is now spoiled rotten and rules the household :)

Clytie was amazing with my shy cat. We needed help getting her into the carrier, and even though she was nervous and hiding, Clytie handled everything calmly and patiently. She asked thoughtful questions about my cat and the best strategies to approach her, which made us feel very reassured. She was also very responsive, shared photos, kept us updated throughout, and got her safely into the carrier in a short time. We would definitely recommend her to anyone!

Clytie took excellent care of my medically complex senior kitty! She was communicative, took great photos, and most importantly took superb care of Buddha. I’d highly recommend her!
