Big Hearted Animal Lover
Pet care experience
When I was 10 years old, my older sister used to work at the animal shelter. Every now and then she'd bring home cats/kittens or dogs/puppies to foster until they were ready to be adopted. I would get nervous at meeting the big dogs, but they were very affectionate. I ended up walking them, washing them and just about trained them with the minimum basic commands such as sit, down, shake, etc. Kittens were my all-time favorite. But after a few weeks, they always get adopted so quick when they turned 8 weeks old. Fast forward to now, over the last 20+ years I have been able to have owners shocked because as mean as they say their pet is, their pets seem to always come up and roll on their backs waiting on some belly rubs or just attention. I have that energy that they seem notice that I am there for them and to be nurturing and loving and all my attention will be going to them. I'm just a big animal lover. I pay attention to their feedings, daily habits/ routines and understanding their body language & barks/purrs for awareness or happiness 😊
Reviews
My cat Cookie was friendly, loving, playful, cuddly, vocal m, happy, and sociable especially with new people! Clarissa was my long-term pet sitter for 5 years when I lived in California. She loves animals especially cats. Clarissa and Cookie had a strong bond. She was very playful with Cookie. She would get down on the floor and played with him and he loved playing in her hair. Besides caring for Cookie, she cleaned his litter box, swept, opened and closed my blinds for him, and even brought Cookie treats when she came to visit. While I was on vacation, she would send me either picture and/or videos. Clarissa's passion for animals make her a great pet sitter and I highly RECOMMEND HER!
Clarissa is an amazing pet caregiver. She pays attention to detail on instructions. And is great with older grouchy dogs. She gives pets the love they need when you have to be away or need someone to stop by! Have used her for years!

Safety, trust & environment
I'm awake to feed my cat & dog by 7am. When finished eating, I clean my cats litter box, wash their feeding bowls and refresh their water. I take my dog for a quick walk for about 10 minutes to almost an hour, depending on the day. He then goes to the backyard to go to the bathroom. He ends up staying outside to chew his bones, roll around grass or just sunbathe. My cat ends up running and drifting throughout our hard wooded floors to burn off his energy. He ends up getting a meal at Noon because he is still a kitten. When they are asleep throughout the day, that is when I am able to catch up on errands, laundry or my hobbies: painting, reading, biking.

A typical day
First off, I would happily meet & greet your pet before the actual appointment by having them sniff my hand, legs or body to have them get comfortable with me. Once established, I like to pet them around their ears, or rub their belly's when they rollover in front of me. I talk to them as a normal person and see their face reactions and head tilts. Have them chase me around in case they escape for whatever reason, they can come catch me and not me catching them. For funsies, I like to do some basic obedient training such as sit, shake/paw. I've been trying a new trick on my dog Loki is rollover; he rolls halfway. Cats will rub themselves along my legs knowing they have established a liking with me. When they meow and purr at the same time is always something I love to hear, and I just get very cutesy with them. I like to hold them in my arms, pet them and see if I can get their motor-purring going. With their toys, I like to sit on the ground and wave back and forth their toy and have hem zig and zag and jump as high as they can. Giving them motion movement and not sitting too long will be good on their joints because they are very flexible and versatile as they ARE CATS. Also, depending on their gender, I know males are more affectionate and females keep their space and distance until they want attention or have accepted to trust me to be as affectionate as a male cat would.
