Safety, trust & environment

Our Meet & Greet will be mandatory as I want to know all the details of your pet's care and make sure that your pet(s) and my safety are aligned. Based off my veterinary experience, I can read a dog pretty well if they will be aggressive or timid or scared with a stranger's presence. I also want to know about your pet's quirks as I know almost everyone's pets have some because pets are funny that way. And I want to meet you to make sure we are a good fit for one another and that you feel safe trusting your pet's care with me. This relationship will be a two way street especially if it grows to be something more than once. As far as trusting me with your home, know that I have been helping my mom clean houses for over half my life (15+ years). She has her own business and has asked me to help out a lot throughout the years. I have been in people's homes in Pasadena, Thousand Oaks, Malibu, Lake Sherwood, Westlake Village, Santa Monica, Brentwood and more. Many family's have trusted me with taking care of their homes and leaving them more beautiful than I found them. I created great relationships with people's pets as well aka they knew when I arrived they would be getting lots of love and their welcome treat!

Information Clarisa E. would like to know about your pet

Please give me a detailed list of needs for your pet and their medications/food allergies. I also want to know what their food times are and if they have to complete commands prior to letting them chow down. Do I need to pretend to microwave their food? Add some broth to it? Do they need to be wrapped up and tucked into bed? Let me know, I won't judge. I will laugh though if it's funny and tell my dog about it later. I also really need to know if they are good in public (Do I let them sniff other dogs or cross the street? Do I have to be extra aware when they see squirrels?).

A typical day

I love letting dogs sniff everything. Their walk is for them not for me. Sniffing is there twitter/tiktok/IG. It exhausts them more than an actual walk, but if walking and no sniffing is what they want to do then we will do that. If you have lick mats all the better, if not I'll bring my own. I will play catch all day every day until my arm is too sore to throw. If there is a park close by then that's where we will go. I will make sure to assess the weather prior to taking them out - would love if everyone had booties ready for just in case! Please let know your pet's activity levels. If they are super active or just want to be potatoes.

Hi Pet Parents, my name is Clarisa.

Pet care experience

I am a former veterinary technician now turned dog walker and petsitter. I started off working with animals helping the ranch hands at Pierce College. I assisted with 3 kidding seasons and educating the new students on the goat unit. Towards the end this time, I simultaneously started working at my first veterinary practice. I was there for a long time where I learned all the key basic teachings of veterinary medicine. I worked with dogs, cats, rats, birds, and rabbits at this practice. (Fun fact: I become pretty good at reading x-rays which I was very proud about.) I learned how to restrain properly (for all animals), draw blood, collect lab samples, express anal glands, nail trims, surgery monitoring, and lots of client care service. From there I moved to Seattle to work at a new veterinary practice. (If you are able to, please visit Seattle in the summer!) I missed home so I moved back after a while and started working at a veterinary hospital in Santa Monica. It was there were I learned the most because it was not only appointment based, but also a walk in/emergency clinic. Things got very chaotic and through this chaos it was my best work. I was the calm in the storm. I gave every single pet the exact same care no matter how neglected (we worked with the animal shelter and rescues) or how loved they were because they all deserve to feel cared for. I made sure that you pet parents deserved to feel safe trusting me with your pet's care. I have been with people on their best days with their new puppies and kittens and on their worst days saying goodbye to their family member. I understand how important your pet(s) are to you. I understand that it's not easy to trust a stranger with your pet(s). I understood that every time I met a new client, asking questions about your pet(s) history, taking their vitals, and hoping in that short time frame I earned enough trust from you to take your pet to the back while we performed services and safely return them back to you. If your pet(s) have any medications to give, you are in luck, I have a lot of experience in doing so. I helped pet parents at the clinic and in their own homes when they couldn't make it to the clinic any longer. I currently have a senior dog (she's 16), so I know that our senior baby's need extra care. I know they start having accidents inside the house again and have strict medications so rest assured, I would take care of your senior pups like I would take care of mine. They deserve it and you deserve a peace of mind about that.

Claris a is the best!! She came through for us for a last minute booking for our senior girl. She is professional, courteous and amazing with communication (little updates and photos each day we were gone- which helped this dog mom relax). Your pet is in great hands!!!!

Clarisa is phenomenal! She’s very experienced with extensive dog and veterinary knowledge. Very easy to work with and trustworthy. We are very careful with the care of our two dogs as they are family. They bonded with her the minute they met. We trust Clarisa completely with our home and our boys. Thank you again Clarisa and see you again soon.

Clarisa was amazing with my two dogs! She stayed with them for a little over a week and I didn’t have to worry at all. Both my dogs are nervous around new people and they had no problems with her. One of my dogs is also very hyper and she made sure she got enough exercise and mental stimulation each day. I received updates multiple times a day about how they were doing. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to watch my dogs!

Clarisa has been a trusted dog sitter of mine for nearly a decade. With a past education in (and field experience) as a veterinary assistant, she knows on a clinically level how to care for pets, and what to do in most every scenario. But most importantly, as a dog owner herself for a sweet angel named Delilah, aka her lil mamas, clarisa is compassionate and loving towards others pets. She’s one of only a handful of people that makes my dog piddle excitedly when she walks through the door. If there’s any opinion you should trust, it’s that of my own pup, who adores her!!
