Safety, trust & environment

I work and play with pets differently depending on how comfortable they are with me--I will play with more excitable dogs and cats in a more high energy way than with pets who are more calm, and I will not force a pet to play or interact with me if they feel threatened (as some more skittish dogs and cats might). Above all I will always make sure that the pets are safe and that their comfort is prioritized over my desire to play with them.

Information Claire P. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know any behavioral quirks that pets may have as well as any health complications or restrictions. It would be great to know a few of their favorite things to do as well, as a jumping off point, but it's all right if I don’t have that information- either way I will make sure to engage with them in ways that will help me get to know them better!

A typical day

When I stay with dogs, I can take them on walks to explore the neighborhood, and for dogs and cats alike I will utilize the toys they already enjoy and engage with them in a way that matches their energy. I can also provide a more low-energy environment when needed or wanted (both for naturally lower-energy pets or for high-energy pets who need to calm down for a moment).

Pet care experience

I've been cat-sitting for family friends and neighbors since I was around 7 or 8 and am very comfortable working with them. I've had cats in my house with me since I was born. I've also been around a lot of different kinds (and personalities!) of dogs since I was little--a lot of my friends and family have dogs and I love walking and playing with them.
