I am a field ecologist and currently in the off-season, so I do not have another job that will get in the way of taking care of your pet. My schedule is very flexible and I am available weekdays/nights and weekends.

I love all furry (and non-furry, I've taken care of snakes, tortoises, and chickens!) critters but it is great to know in advance if they have any special accommodations, such as medication, difficulty around other people or dogs, etc. Everyone is special so I am always happy to make accommodations to ensure they get the proper care and love.
A typical day
I love to do a variety of activities with the dogs, cats, and other critters I watch. Whether it be physical exercise--I love running, walking, exploring new trails, playing games and taking a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood to stop and smell every new exciting fire hydrant. Or mental and emotional support--playing with the cat laser toys, providing company and cuddle time.

Pet care experience
I have been an animal lover my entire life, and dogs especially have always had a special place in my heart. I've grown up with and taken care of pit bulls, poodles, shih tzus, English setters, a 100+ pound sheepdog, indoor and outdoor cats and many more! So I am comfortable with pets of all breeds, ages, and sizes. I am caring, gentle, intuitive, and patient--which is very helpful when caring for elderly dogs. I have a great deal of experience with senior pets and have taken care of dogs and cats that are visually impaired/blind, have difficulty walking, have skin conditions, and require medications, to perfectly peppy puppies that are still learning the rules of potty training. I am very active and currently have a flexible schedule, so I am happy to take your dogs for as many walks/runs as they would like, or to spend some downtime at home with them.

Claire recently house sat and cared for our Chow Chow. Xiona immediately bonded with her, they played together, went for walks, and enjoyed changing weather. We received two rather large snow storms and Claire shoveled the walks and driveway. She kept in touch with us while we were vacationing just over 3 weeks. When we returned, the house was cleaned and our sheets were laundered! I would highly recommend Claire

Claire is a life-long animal lover and advocate for all animals. She has cared for our family pets and friends’ pets for over 20 years, and she shows love, patience and compassion. My elderly shih-tzu requires a lot of special care, and I can always rely on Claire to help with giving medicine and giving extra attention.
