Pet care experience
Experienced & Compassionate <3
I started out my animal care journey after adopting my anxious/fearful dog in 2017. Over time, she began opening up & showing me her goofy & loving personality. This is when I developed my passion for the dogs who you have to work for their trust. I then began volunteering as an Adoption Counselor at the Humane Society where this passion deepened even further. Upon realizing that animal care was the path I was meant to be on, I started working at a vet clinic in Grand Rapids, first as a kennel attendant taking care of dogs/cats who boarded at our facility, and then as a veterinary nurse. As a kennel attendant, I learned how to make a pet’s time with us feel less scary by giving each animal individual care & attention, while also providing mental and physical stimulation. As a veterinary nurse, my skill set grew to be very diverse. I retained knowledge in drawing blood, giving vaccines/injections/fluids, trimming nails, completing X-rays, etc., all while creating an environment where the pet could feel safe. Because of my history, I am experienced and very comfortable with puppy, senior, special needs, anxious & fearful pets. I love animals of all shapes and sizes and personalities. If your pet needs several meet-and-greets in order for me to gain their trust, I am more than happy to accommodate. If your pet needs daily medications or injections, I am qualified to ensure this is done properly. If your pet is high energy and needs lots of exercise/stimulation, I will make sure they’re exhausted by the time you come home. Whatever your pet’s individual needs may be, I will make sure they are met.

Safety, trust & environment
I meticulously follow the instructions left by pet parents. I am able to keep your dog leashed if there is no fenced in yard, crate your dog before leaving, keep your dog away from specific triggers that may upset them, etc. If anything bad (big or small) ever happens while I am taking care of your pet, you will hear about it right away. I believe in complete transparency between pet parents, the pets and myself, as I would expect the same from anyone caring for my dog.
Ratings and reviews
Claire did an amazing job taking care of my cat, Walter! She provides such great feedback from her visits and photos that show your furry friend is being loved and played with!

Claire is hands down the best dog sitter we’ve ever had. She always goes above and beyond and truly shows our pup the most love & care. I completely trust her with caring for our high needs pup and treats him like her own! She also communicates throughly & is very responsive during her visits, which we appreciate. Thank you Claire! :)

Claire is one of the best cat-sitters I have ever had! She provided detailed descriptions of our three cats for every visit, and we could tell that they were just fine, acting out their personalities and routines with her. She also took care in sweeping litter and cleaning up their accidents. We had an unexpected change, and we had to book her days before a trip. Even though it was a bit last-minute, she met with me and clearly wanted to know how to connect with our cats, what their favorite toys are, and how to make our cat crew feel comfortable. I would definitely book Claire again!

Claire has been great with Spatzle. He's a nervous boy and it took a very slow introduction. But Claire was willing to take the time so it could be a successful stay with a fear reactive dog. She doesn't get stressed with a dog with a dog with GI concerns and is always willing to ask for suggestions on caring for our dog the best way possible. Her prior experience helps us nervous dog parents actually relax and enjoy our time away without constantly worrying about how it's going at home. I am confident if anything should happen, and we were unavailable, she would be able to manage the situation until we were able to get back.

Claire was great with sailor! Would book again

Claire and Spatzle are slowly working on an introduction. He is a nervous and reactive boy so we are working our way to being able to do overnights and drop ins. Her vet med hx and experience with a reactive dog is SO helpful in knowing how to interact with him and it's going great so far.

Schedule
I currently have a completely open schedule as I am transitioning from vet med to full-time Rovering for the time being. Which means your kiddos are my #1 priority & I won’t need to rush off to a job for 10+ hours!
- Cats0 to 15 lbs16 to 40 lbs41 to 100 lbsover 101 lbsClaire can host up to 9 drop-ins per day
- It’s important to know your pet’s unique behaviors & what their “tics” might be, also how I can best work with these things to ensure your dog feels happy & safe. For example, if I need to go slowly with your dog to gain their trust, or if there’s something they are fearful of, please let me know! My job is to work with these things in order to foster an environment where they are comfortable & thriving. I have absolutely no breed preferences, I love them all the same.
