I work full time, so I will be in and out of your house as my schedule can vary. I always make sure to come back during the afternoon! When dog sitting, I stay at your house overnight and do try to work from your house as much as possible. I only agree to dog walking and check-in visits that match with my schedule, and I always let my clients know what my week is going to look like before they book.

I'm very careful to understand the behavior of the pets I'm watching. If your pup is a known bolter, I'm always cautious when opening and closing doors - I know they can be sneaky sometimes. I'm happy to do whatever is best for your pup! I always lock the doors of my client's house, even while I'm in the house. I'm aware of all the doors to exterior and never leave windows open when I'm not at the house. I'm comfortable staying in homes with an active security system and am willing to do whatever is needed to make you feel like your home and belongings are secure while you're away.

I just want to know a dog's comfort level with people. I pet sit for a dog who needed you to wait outside for him to come out when he met you and as long as you did that, he was just fine! I'm willing to jump through any hoops to make your dog comfortable, I just want to know exactly what I need to do. I do not have a breed preference but I prefer larger dogs.
A typical day
I love walking in natural areas so I would love to take them to a nearby park or walking trail! If the dog is comfortable in the car, I'm comfortable driving them to new locations to explore. Beyond this, throwing the ball is a classic and I'm personally a fan of throwing the Frisbee.

Pet care experience
I have a degree in Zoology from Miami University in Ohio and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Oklahoma. During my time as an undergrad, I participated in three animal care internships at three zoological institutions so I have spent a lot of time around a lot of different animals. I also worked as a seasonal zoo keeper one summer. I love them all! I was also a volunteer at an animal shelter in Chicago and in Ohio and have taken multiple courses on dog behavior and dog care through my shelter training. I currently work for an environmental consulting firm. I have experience pet-sitting dogs and cats of all sizes; I'm comfortable with dogs who need time to get used to new people as well. I currently have a cat and two pups of my own (who hang out with my boyfriend while I hang with your pups)! I've also had rabbits, rats, and have experience with horses. I can walk your dog, stay with them while you're away so they can lounge in the comfort of their own home, or pop by to check in while you're at work. I'm incredibly comfortable with animal behavior and am able to pick up on cues to make sure your dog or cat is always happy. I also love the company of animals more than I like people sometimes so I'm always happy and willing to spend lots of time with yours.

Claire did an outstanding job house sitting and taking care of our our two German Shepherds and our little pug mix. She kept us updated throughout the week with messages and pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. We came home to a well-kept house and three happy dogs. Claire is reliable, caring, and an excellent communicator. We would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable pet and house sitter!

We are so very appreciative of Claire. She truly does love our dogs and our dogs love her back. It’s so nice being able to go out of town and know that our babies are being taken care of with plenty of attention and affection. We hit a grand slam with finding her to help us out when we go out of town.
