Bark’n Care

Animals have always been a passion of mine, and i’ve always found a way to be around them whether it’s volunteering at animal shelters to interning at wildlife refuges. In college I interned at a wildlife center in Texas where I was a caretaker for many exotic species such as ostriches, emus, lynxes, and pheasants, I’ve always been the go to person for taking care of pets within my community. It started with me taking care of my aunt’s dogs while she was away, to my aunt’s neighbor’s dogs, to dogs of my professors, and so on. However, I began to professionally pet sit in 2018 receiving most of my clients through word of mouth. Through moving to New York city, I lost the network that I built back home. Through pet sitting I gained experience for caring for dogs, cats, and even birds. I also have knowledge in caring for animals with special needs and administering medication to animalsof all ages and sizes. I love to play and run around with dogs, so they will definitely be in for a workout! I would love to be able to provide the love and care that your dog needs and deserves while you’re away from home.

Safety, trust & environment

My number one goal is to ensure that your pet is comfortable in their own home. This means maintaining their schedule, reassuring their social needs, and most of all giving them love. I will do safety checks throughout the day to ensure harmful objects are out of reach. As a pet sitter, it’s important to provide a trustworthy and reliable service. While you’re gone, your pet will be undergoing a stressful time. So although you may not be present, it's important that your pet’s day to day life remains the same.During this time they’ll also receive love and nurturing. Communication is key during your time away, so you should expect a daily update on how your pet is doing. Lastly, I only take one client at a time to ensure that I can spend ample time with your pet.

Excellent and professional provider. My dog was happy and she followed the schedule. I will be using her again this was so convenient and allowed my elder dog to stay in his home where he is more comfortable.

Chyla took care of my two dogs Lucy (chocolate lab) and Skoll (Australian cattledog/rat terrier mix) on multiple occasions. Once almost for a whole month! She would drive to my house and let them out into the yard, take take them on walks, she would stay with them to keep them company/play with them (and obviously feed them). When I returned they were always the same weight I left them and in happy moods! You can immediately tell when your pet is mistreated or abused by a sitter (which I have unfortunately experienced at boarding/training companies but absolutely not with chyla). Whenever Chyla would come over to my house the dogs were ecstatic to see her. I never had any issues with them destroying furniture or the house (classic sign of boredom/anxiety that both my dogs would at time participate with me) so I know she kept them mentally/physically stimulated. I also want to mention that my lab, Lucy, is very anxious and apprehensive around strangers. At first I was a bit nervous about whether Lucy would accept Chyla but there were never ANY issues. Like I said, Lucy would be so happy to see Chyla and greet her with kisses, beg for pets and want to play. I just want to emphasize that when she first met Chyla, Lucy would fearfully bark and even growl at her! Chyla would also text me daily progress reports with pictures. I found Chyla to be not only incredibly reliable but she allowed me to go on trips without having to worry about my fur babies well being. She would also MOP and tidy up my house because the dogs would bring mud in during the rainy season! She is amazing, highly recommend!

I would like to know if your dog is aggressive towards other dogs or people. If that’s so I could adjust walks in an area that doesn’t have as much traffic. Another thing is, what’s their personality. Things like if they’re prone to anxiousness, or if they’re less open to strangers. Other things I may as is what they like to do. Do they love to go on walks, or are they more of a couch potato?
