Information Christopher W. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if they have any special needs or behaviors I can account for in order to best take care of them. I’m understanding of behaviors based on breed and even environment and can recognize when those special cases need extra TLC.

A typical day

I live near a few nice parks and am a very active person so it would be bo problem at all to take long strolls with dogs or pups with tons of energy. Big sense of adventure so I like to show dogs the cutest areas full of space and things to sniff! Always down for fetch and frolicking and belly rubs!

Pet care experience

Hello! Yes my legal name is Chris, but I go by Sage! I’m a chef, artist, and pet care extraordinaire. I’ve been taking care of fur babies for the some time now, with experience in shelters, doggy daycares, and have been walking dogs for a large number of clients, as well as some experience in home care for senior doggies in the last 7 years. I'm experienced with various breeds, sizes, diets, and temperaments. Being a pet parent myself, I have an understanding of the responsibility and care that needs to be possessed for this work and I'm able to accommodate different pet schedules or needs of the clients as well! I have a gentle nature and animals warm up to me quickly so I can’t wait to meet your little ones! (Or chonky ones!) I am a chef/food manager, with a good amount of flexibility in my schedule. Clients that require consecutive days of care only need to notify me their schedule one to two weeks in advance and I would surely be able to accommodate. In a client’s home, I take great accountability for the space and how me being in it affects the pets. I make sure that cleanliness and comfort are a priority. I want the pet I’m watching to feel like I am a magical treat machine that gives belly rubs and cuddles every now and then and work at gaining both their and their humans’ full confidence in my ability to take proper care of them and their environment!

Sage took such great care of my pets and was a total lifesaver when I had last minute schedule changes. Can’t thank you enough!

I rarely leave negative reviews, and I genuinely had high hopes for Sage based on his strong ratings and positive feedback. Initially, everything seemed promising. He was communicative after my request, came for a meet and greet, and got along well with our almost 6 year old Rottweiler, Luka. Based on that, we booked him for a 2.5 day in home stay. The first day went well. He provided a walk update and sent a photo at the end of the day. However, things declined significantly after that. On the second day, I did not receive any communication until I reached out around 4pm. This prompted me to check our doorbell and backyard cameras, where I discovered that Sage had not stayed overnight as expected. Instead, he returned in the early morning hours with another person, something we were never informed of or approved. When he eventually responded a few hours later, his message simply said, “all is well, Luka is a good boy,” which was concerning given what I had already observed. Upon further review, it became clear that Luka had been left alone from approximately 12pm until 8am the next day, nearly a full day without proper care or supervision. Sage later explained that his dog needed emergency vet care and his phone had died. While I understand that unexpected situations happen, leaving a client’s dog alone for that long without any communication is unacceptable, especially while reassuring me that everything was fine. Saying there was “plenty of food and water” did not reflect the reality of the situation. When Sage did return briefly, he only let Luka out in the backyard due to rain, fed him, and left again shortly after. When we arrived home, Luka’s water bowl was bone dry. He immediately drank two full bowls of water, which made it clear he had gone without water for an extended period of time. Not refilling a water bowl after feeding is a basic level of care that was missed. I am not sure if this was an isolated off weekend, but this was, by far, the worst experience I have had using Rover. Unfortunately, I would not rehire.

Sage was very patient with our scaredy cat rescue husky, trying to put him at ease. The visit ended with our husky actually taking a piece of cheese out of Sage’s hand after a lot of barking, howling, and retreating. Success!
