Availability
At least one person is home nearly all of the time, as we have somewhat flexible schedules including a remote work-from-home arrangement for one of us. We make sure our visitor gets plenty of attention, and this is supplemented by our sons who enjoy animals and are often home on weekends and after school hours.

We only have one dog at a time with us, and devote our full attention to him/her during the visit. A thorough home cleaning is always done in between visitors. Our family/tv room area - where our boys like to spend time as well - doubles as a comfy dog area and we open up other rooms as needed for our visitors to explore. There is a sliding door with easy supervised access to the fenced backyard.

We are happy to adjust our style depending on a pet's personality and age. Some dogs/breeds are more homebody types and others have lots of energy and need to be outside a lot of the time. We can do both - with four of us rotating in and out of the house, he/she will always be well accompanied. Obvious considerations like food, meal times etc. are important to know as well.
A typical day
We like to let dogs be dogs - though sometimes they act like humans! We accompany them to make sure they are safe but also have the flexibility to stop and sniff as much as desired or go in the direction they want to explore. We live in an area perfect for dog walking, with quiet streets, friendly neighbors, and parks with paths nearby. Our family has a lot of experience in scratching in just the right place, which is much appreciated by our canine friends. Most importantly, we love animals and treat them as well as we can at all times.

Pet care experience
We grew up around medium-to-large sized dogs and about a decade ago, after settling down and starting a family, we again enjoyed the company of dogs in our home for a number of years. While our two boys (13 and 16) love dogs and are gentle and playful with them, at least one adult is always present to supervise. We are quite flexible since most of Chris's work is home office-based, Heidy works part-time, and our boys' schedules keep us close to home most of the time. In addition, We welcome the opportunity to get outside the house for short walks, and a dog is a natural companion depending on his/her profile or need to get outside on the leash. Our fenced backyard is also available. We try to make our home a warm, loving environment, and there is plenty of space here for a pet to feel comfortable and relaxed.

Chris and Heidy took fantastic care of Sophie — she spent close to 3 weeks with them and came back healthy and happy. Communication with them was easy and clear throughout the entire time we were away and they were very accommodating and flexible on timing of drop off and pick up. We will certainly ask Chris and Heidy to host Sophie again and highly recommend them. Five stars all around!
Chris and Heidy are fantastic and we are so grateful that they will be hosting Sophie for an extended period of time this summer.
Excellent communication and Sophie seemed very happy and calm after coming home from her visit. Looks like she had a good time and we would definitely recommend Chris and Heidy!
Chris and Heidy looked after our Labrador for two weeks and we have no doubt he was well looked after! He seemed to have formed a lovely bond there and we wouldn’t hesitate to use their services again. Just before we went away, our dog had had an issue with his tail bleeding and they cared for it well and kept in good communication with us. We’re sure he felt right at home!
