Since 2015 I have volunteered at Wayside Waifs in Kansas City, before moving to Omaha, as both a dog socializer and a dog foster parent. The dogs I foster are primarily 'shy and fearful' dogs. I love watching these dogs come out of their shells and enjoy life. My wife and I have taken in some of the most challenging dogs Wayside and have loved every minute of it. Before I started volunteering at Wayside I had my own dogs who I've had since 2012. My own dogs are pretty spoiled. My wife and I will take them on walks, play in the house, play in the backyard, go to the dog park when the weather's nice, or just lounge around with the dogs if everybody's tired. Our first two dogs we've had since 2012 and 2013, a Patterdale Terrier and Lhasalier, respectively. Our most recent dog, a Gordon Setter, came to us by way of a friend who was unable to keep their dog when they moved to California, we've had her since late 2017. Our two small dogs love to play with new canine friends of any size. Our medium sized dog, a Gordon Setter, tends to only like dogs smaller than her. If your pup doesn't like cats that's not a problem at all; we do not have cats either, our middle dog isn't a fan.
