For housesits, I stay at the client's home full time — overnight and through most of the day — so pets maintain their normal routines as closely as possible. I follow whatever feeding schedules, rules, and habits the owner has established, and I ask detailed questions before a sit begins so there are no surprises. I treat every home I stay in with care and respect, leaving it in the same condition I found it. For drop-in visits, I arrive on schedule, spend quality time with the pet rather than rushing through, and send updates so owners know everything is going well. In either case I make sure animals have fresh water, are fed on schedule, get appropriate exercise and attention, and are never left alone longer than is comfortable for them. I'm attentive to changes in behavior or health and will contact the owner promptly if anything seems off.

Let me know if your pet has any special needs, including certain kinds of fun he/she likes to get up to, as well as medicines, preferred head-scratches, belly rubs, or ways of having food prepared, or anything else. I want your dog or cat (or goat or...) to have as few disruptions to their normal routine as possible.
A typical day
A typical day with a dog in my care involves a real walk, not just a bathroom break — I'm out on foot every day regardless, so dogs get to come along and actually explore. On the Big Island that often means trails, quiet roads, or stretches of coast depending on where we are. Back home there's playtime: fetch, tug of war, whatever they're into. For cats I'll follow their lead. Some want active play with a string or a wand toy, others mostly want company and a lap. My own cat's preferred game is stalking and ambushing me around the house, but that's probably just him.

Chris is an amazing sitter and a lovely person. We were away for two weeks and he took care of our cats and home so well. We came back to our place better than when we left it!
Chris did a wonderful job! He took very good care of our two dogs and our house while we were away on vacation. He even came several times ahead of the stay, of his own volition and on his own dime, to get better acquainted with the dogs.
