I like to listen to the pet owners about their pets, as I believe they know them best. I look to find out all i can about a dog before walks. If I am too come to your home. I like to know if the pet is on any medication. If there is any strict rules the pet follows (like not being allowed in bedrooms) after all it's the pets home. I'm just a visitor. Overall I like to get a sense of the animal and the situation I am coming into.

Information Christopher D. would like to know about your pet

Let me know about the temperament of your dogs, any medication they might be on. Any disability they might have. Any known allergies, local (or not so local) vet(s) they have. If your pets are aggressive or need to be kept on a lead. I am always open to learning about what makes your pet special!

A typical day

I love to hike. So that is always on the cards. When my dogs were younger I used to set up "adventure runs" in the garden. Which involved them jumping over wood and going between plant pots. They were border collies so needed the mental stimulation as they are a smart breed. I am fine to try this again. I like to Taylor this to specific dog breeds. I also used to give them dog treats in a puzzle toy. So it took them some time to get at the treats. Overall I like to include pet owners and type of pet in the decision of what I do and what the owner would like to do.

Pet care experience

I grew up with two border collies. I helped care for them from pups to seniors. I don't have that many photos of me and them together or me and any pet together as I was a bit camera shy. I completely understand what it takes and how much our animals mean to us. From feeding them twice to three times a day, to the hours upon hours of walking I did with them by my side. I really learnt what it was like to care and look after pets. Young and old. I was in control of dog sledging team last winter. Competeing in races and casual sledging. I worked with my mother who fostered a puppy when our dog was senior, so I understand the difference in age and what is required with each stage of an animals life. Catering my experience to whatever stage your pet is at. I am an avid hiker and love taking dogs with me. I have been left friends dogs and cats to feed while they were away. Overall I just love animals.

Christopher was an excellent house and dog sitter. He was very professional, proactive on letting us know how our dog Maia was doing. He took her out for many walks and gave us updates on each one. When we got back Maia was extremely happy and comfortable. He was respectful with our rules with her and could tell she was very well taken care of. Christopher also left our place immaculate condition. Would recommend him anytime and will be our go to guy. It’s always hard leaving your dog with someone but Im happy we left her Christopher.

Christopher has grown up caring and loving animals. We had two border collies for over 18 years. Chris walked them regularly, fed them and cleaned up after them. He loved to throw the ball to them and have lots of cuddles. When they were younger he would build courses and help train them as well as keep them active. Christopher has a calm demeanor which all animals love. He is gentle and very aware of animal needs. He is a vegetarian as he does not believe in killing animals to survive. He can follow instructions and will do everything he can to make all the animals in his care feel safe and loved. He is very responsible and he loves to help.

Chris is a very respectful and reliable person. Brilliant house sitter and is amazing with animals. As a former dog owner himself, he has taken great care of my dog many times and has always left the house in perfect condition.
