Classroom Teacher & Avid Pet Lover

I grew up with dogs in our house. It started with one, then we rescued a dog who was pregnant. After caring for puppies with Parvo- they all survived and we became a fur family of 5! Growing up, I always had an affinity with animals. My first job was walking dogs and pet sitting. Fast forward life, I’m a teacher who holds graduate and post graduate degrees in curriculum and instruction, as well as Educational Leadership and Administration. Along with teaching, I have experience serving as a building level administrator. I am smart, intuitive, and informed about behavior and positive learning techniques. During school breaks, I have utilized Trusted Housesitters to care for other’s pets while traveling with my daughter. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to explore the world together while caring for and enjoying the companionship of others’ fur babies. It’s always harder than we predict to leave, because we really do form a relationship with each dog and cat we’ve stayed with. I am also a trained volunteer and former foster parent through Stray Rescue of St.Louis.

Christina is the best! She not only took great care of our Rosie and our house, she helped us out in a pinch the day we were leaving. Rosie got so much love and attention while Christina was here. Would definitely use Christina again!

I would like to say a few words about my recent trip and comment about the wonderful service I received from Rover.com and their home service representative Christine. My boys, Raylan Givens and Preston Tucker, are quite large; and due to my age and physical condition haven’t really received proper training. Therefore, they are sometimes a bit hard to handle. While I’m used to their behavior, I worry that their size and lack of training could scare some off, but Christine and her sweet daughter accepted the challenge. My trip wasn’t long, only four days, but this didn’t make my worry any less real. By the end of day one Christine text me pictures of my boys and her daughter relaxing together, with a comforting note that everyone was doing fine. Her kind words and photos assured me my boys were in good hands, and I wouldn't hesitate to send my boys to their home away from home again. I highly recommend that anyone needing help with their pets for vacation or just a night out, cannot find a better service. Thanks Christine…five out of five stars.

Christina and her daughter did such a great job watching my dog Porter. She was a great communicator and treated Porter like he was one of their own. She was also very flexible with drop off and pick up times which was very much appreciated. I will definitely be using her again. Thank you again Christina.

As an adult, caring for pets and enjoying their company is something that is a part of who I am. I served as a volunteer for Stray Rescue and as a foster mom for dogs from their shelter. I became a foster fail when I decided to adopt my foster dog, Duke about 8 years ago. I worked extensively with an animal behaviorist from MU to support his fear based agression, and with trainers. When Duke passed away, we waited about a year, and resuced our puppy- Ben. I read all the puppy books, and applied my learning to his earth development as I supported him with potty training, and basic obedience/house manners. I worked with trainers at Kennelwood to refine my training skills with him to teach him basic commands such as leash walking, sit, stay, down, climb, and to come when called. He is trained to be off leash, and stay with us. I work in schools M-F during the school year. I am always available for boarding. I am also available for walking on weekends, schools breaks, and after school hours (anytime after 4:30).

Pets

A typical day

I’m an early riser- I enjoy the peace and quiet of the house before anyone else is awake. I like to take morning walks, read, plan for the day, and drink my coffee before anyone else wakes up. This is usually the perfect time for 1:1 time with pets, and a great time to walk before the afternoon sun heats things up. My family enjoys being outdoors, and we’re happy to bring your dog along if that’s something they’d enjoy. We keep a pretty set routine, and are always home before dark. Your pets will always have people home at night to keep them company and give them TLC.
