Filling the Hole in Our Hearts

A Home Away From Home for Your Dog 🐾 Dogs have always been a huge part of our lives. In May 2026, we said goodbye to our beloved Chihuahua-mix rescue, Shredderz. The hole he left in our hearts is enormous. We aren’t ready for another lifelong dog just yet, but we also know that our love for dogs isn’t going anywhere. So we found a way to keep dogs in our lives while giving them something wonderful in return: a true home away from home. We love to travel, and we’ve learned firsthand how difficult it can be to travel with a dog. And when your dog is family, traditional boarding just doesn’t feel like an option. That’s actually what inspired us to create The Doghouse Inn, a dog-themed vacation rental we owned from 2022–2025. We didn’t just allow dogs. We designed the experience around them. They had their own room, a literal dog castle made of beds, and a dog park in the backyard. 🐶🏰 We learned something during those years: dogs deserve to feel like welcome guests, too. Now we’d love to offer that same feeling to your dog in our home. When your pup stays with us, they’re not being tucked away in a kennel or treated like an afterthought. They’ll be part of our home, our routine, and our day. We’ll give them attention, affection, playtime, cozy places to nap, and all the little comforts that help them feel secure while you’re away. And because we’ve loved and lost a dog ourselves, we understand something else very deeply: Leaving your dog with someone is an act of trust. We don’t take that trust lightly. We’re not trying to replace Shredderz. We’re simply opening a door that he helped us discover: sometimes loving dogs means loving the ones who need a safe place to stay, too. If you’re looking for a home away from home where your dog will be genuinely loved and cared for while you’re traveling, we’d be honored to welcome them. ❤️🐾

Schedule

We both work from home, so your dog will have plenty of company throughout the day. Our schedules also give us flexibility, and when one of us has a commitment outside the home, the other stays behind. We love having dogs as part of our daily routine and are happy to include them in our work-from-home day. 🐾

Safety, trust & environment

We have a spacious 2,000-square-foot home on its own property with a completely fenced-in backyard and a screened-in pool. There are no other pets in our home, and we only board one family’s dogs at a time, so your dog gets our full attention without having to share the space with other boarding dogs. Our quiet, safe neighborhood has sidewalks for easy walks, and there’s a park about a mile away. Our fenced yard also gives dogs plenty of room to stretch their legs and run some serious zoomies. 🐾 We have experience caring for dogs of all sizes and truly enjoy having them in our home. Our goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, loving environment where your dog can settle in and feel at home while you’re away.

A typical day

Our day starts early. We’re usually up before dawn, and the first thing we do is let your pup(s) outside for a bathroom break. From there, we follow your normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding times and any medications you’ve provided instructions for. Because we work from home, your dog can follow us around the house throughout the day or settle into one of our five dog beds, the couch, or even our bed. Yes, we’re a dog-friendly household in the fullest sense: dogs are welcome on all of our furniture, including the bed. 🐾❤️ We love going for walks, whether that’s around the neighborhood or exploring a nearby preserve. We’re also happy to take your pup along for a car ride or little outing around town, as long as you’re comfortable with that. Some days are active. Some are slow and cozy. There’s plenty of play, plenty of affection, and plenty of time just hanging out together. Before we turn in for the night, we always make sure your pup gets one final bathroom break. Our goal is for their day with us to feel less like being boarded and more like simply spending the day at another dog-loving home. 🐶

We love all dogs, and we want to know your dog. ❤️ Tell us about their personality, what makes them happy, what they love to do, and what makes them feel safe and comfortable. We’d also love to know about any special routines, needs, or quirks that make them uniquely yours. The little things matter. 🐾
