My routine is extremely flexible. I work my professional job full-time, but am very fortunate in my hybrid work schedule; week-to-week I have a lot of control over which days I am required in the office, so I would be happy to have a discussion about any upcoming needs and how I could fit your pet into my schedule. I am also consistently available for early morning visits, regardless of whether I am working remotely or in-person, and also can generally commit to a visit right after work, around 5:30 or so. Let's discuss!

Safety, trust & environment
When you are trusting me with entrance to your home, I promise to treat that with the utmost respect and privacy. I anticipate a first-time meeting to learn where the essentials for your pet's care are kept, and I do not invade any privacy beyond that. If I am ever confused or missing something in your home, I expect I can figure out a solution until I am able to get ahold of you to ask for confirmation or clarification.

Information Christie J. would like to know about your pet
I would certainly like to talk through your dog's personal preferences and quirks before sitting him or her. For example, my dog growing up would snap at any stranger who tried to touch his ears, and I would never want to blindly do something that may upset a dog. I would also like to know about any schedule that should be adhered to for sitting, as well as any walk preferences you and your dog may have. Does your dog like to pause halfway through the walk to play a few rounds of fetch? Does he prefer to walk only to the bodega and back? Is it important to you that he rehydrates once we reach the park? I never mind hearing about small details! Finally, it would be important to me to know how your dog generally interacts with other dogs, as well as children, so that I can know how best to handle the situation when faced with these inevitably interested parties while out on an excursion! I have absolutely no limitations on breeds- again, all dogs are good dogs! For any concerned large dog owners: I am 5'10" and play competitive sports; I can hold my own!
A typical day
As a transplant to Manhattan, I absolutely love to walk and explore. I am an extremely active person; on the weekends I can consistently be found going for walks or playing volleyball in the city's parks and the chance to integrate dogs into that routine would really be the cherry on top! Also, as an East Village resident, I am familiar with several establishments in the area that are dog-friendly in addition to the local dog parks, so if you are traveling and want to be sure your dog will be engaged and stimulated, look no further!

Pet care experience
A lifelong dog-lover, I am eager to get back in the business of caring for canines! I grew up with an 80-pound mutt from the pound, and through his lifetime I gained a spectrum of experience in caring for dogs - he lived to be almost 15, so I have experience with large, active dogs, as well as geriatric dogs with medication and comfort needs. Furthermore, throughout high school and college I dogsat across neighborhoods for pocket cash, so I have extensive experience with learning and adhering to different dogs' schedules and needs, from the chihuahua down the block that required special cheese "incentives" three times a day to go outside, to the chocolate lab a few streets down who would eat just about anything you put within reach if you weren't careful. Having relocated to Manhattan from Austin, Texas, I've realized a key thing that I miss (aside from my family of course!) is getting to spend time quality time with dogs; fewer friends are owners here in the city. Now that I am settled into my full-time work routine, I am very excited at the prospect of getting to spend time with pups again - all dogs are good dogs! Please do not hesitate to reach out- I will be happy to learn about your pet's needs and do everything I can to make you and your dog comfortable. I look forward to taking dogs for runs, leisurely walks, games of fetch and tug of war, and of course giving plenty of cuddles, tussles, and belly rubs, all while ensuring their needs are met to the best of my ability!

Christie did a great job!!
Christie was great! Very responsive and our dog loved her.

Christie is amazing! She’s the first person we always think of when we need someone to watch our dog. He absolutely adores her!

Christie was great with our pup and made us feel at ease from meet and greet through her stay. Super flexible and communicative. Thanks again!
