Pet care experience
Grad Student & Dog Lover
I am in a fellowship at Stanford, where I write from home full-time. I recently graduated from University of Miami, and before that I went to Emory where I also took care of pups! Dog-walking and general care provide a stress-free outlet from my writing and research, and a way to engage health and well-being beyond myself. As a member of a big family with many kids, taking care of pets is as natural for me as taking care of my nieces and nephews. Care and consideration are integral to all encounters with pets, and my experience with my nieces and nephews has taught me the necessary patience, attention, and care needed to attend to individuals’ prized family members. When dog walking, I see it as mutual exercise, and when pet sitting it’s mutual time spent. I am interested in extending my personal care to include those who cannot fully care for themselves. 🤗

Christell was super nice and kind. Easy to communicate, I felt very comfortable having Átlas boarding with her! I definitely recommend her to care of your fur babies!

Christell was great. Very friendly, great communication and regular updates. Will definitely use again!

Christell did a wonderful job taking care of Baby. She was prompt and responsive with an overall friendly demeanor. I would recommend her to a friend :)

Christell is super friendly and her poddle Jazz is cute and chill. My dog, is sometimes nervous around bigger dogs, but got along well with Jazz. Christell walks the dogs daily and took good care of Casper. Great experience. Thx again!

Zola loves Christell! Highly recommend!!!

Schedule
I’m an artist, so taking care of Jazz and other pups is the main structure of my day. I plan my reading, writing, and screen time around our walks and play time. I rely on our routine for my own benefit as much as keeping a consistent balance for them, too.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I believe in infinite grace and freedom. I will let the pets roam free, have their own time, play, and even cuddle when they like. I do have rules around rough playing, getting on furniture, or incessant barking or anything of the like. Most dogs have a way of showing you what the need, and I pride myself on being patient and understanding what exactly that is! Even if they do something I don’t like or that isn’t fair, I see how it can come from excitement or it may be out of their control or simply anxiety, so I also pride myself on setting clear but graceful boundaries that don’t intimidate or scold any pups. Every behavior has a reason!

A typical day
Usually we wake up around 7/730, and everyone is free to do as they please. I have water out first thing. At 8 I feed everyone and get ready myself. Around 830 we set out for a morning walk/ potty break (I pack up the food). We usually make it back by 930/10. I usually read/work in the mornings until about noon, and then we go for another short walk/potty break. There is ample water out for everyone. Dinner is at 5. Depending on time of year, we go for another long walk around 3/4 (winter) or 5/6 (summer). Final potty break around 7/8, and we’re all in bed around 9/10!
