Availability

I work full time from home but most of my team is in the U.S, so half my day is my own time to work flexibly which works well during the warmer weather for cool morning walks. I’m available for boarding and house sitting during the week and weekends and I can be flexible for fairly last minute requests.

I have a completely enclosed garden that is beautiful and safe. My dog, Harper, is the absolute friendliest cocker spaniel - she’s neutered, very friendly with other dogs and typically follows me around everywhere. I’m happy to take the lead from you on any routines or care your pet requires.

Information Chris S. would like to know about your pet

The more I know about your pet, the better I can care for them. Please let me know about their routine, feeding schedule, exercise needs, medical conditions, medications, likes, dislikes and any behaviours I should be aware of. It’s also helpful to know how they are around other animals, people, livestock and when left alone. I want to make sure I can provide the safest, most enjoyable experience possible while keeping their routine as familiar and consistent as possible.

A typical day

Every pet is different, so I like to tailor the day around their usual routine and energy levels. For dogs, that often means a morning walk, plenty of play and enrichment throughout the day, regular toilet breaks and lots of companionship. Living on Dartmoor means we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to woodland trails, open countryside and beautiful walks. For pets who prefer a slower pace, I’m equally happy providing company, cuddles and a calm environment. My goal is for them to feel relaxed, happy and completely at home while you’re away.

Pet care experience

Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up on a farm surrounded by animals and today my constant companion is Harper, my wonderful three-year-old cocker spaniel. We spend most days exploring the countryside around Dartmoor, where we live in a large converted chapel in a peaceful Devon village. Life here is a dog’s dream. We’re surrounded by woodland trails, open moorland, reservoirs and beaches, which means plenty of opportunities for exercise, enrichment and adventure. Whether your dog loves long walks, paddling in the water, playing fetch or simply relaxing in the garden, I’ll tailor their day to suit their personality and energy levels. I work from home, so your dog will have company, attention and regular toilet breaks throughout the day rather than being left alone for long periods. I also have a secure, enclosed and shaded garden that’s perfect for playtime and keeping cool during warmer weather. Most importantly, I understand that leaving your dog with someone else is a matter of trust. I’ll care for them as if they were my own, making sure they’re safe, happy, well exercised and showered with affection while you’re away.

Chris has been looking after our spaniel on an ad-hoc basis for the past 4-5 years, sometimes taking Coco to his home and other times pet-sitting at our home. He is a responsible and reliable individual with a kind and caring demeanour. Coco is always very excited to see ‘Uncle Chris’! He has owned his own gorgeous spaniel, Harper since 2022 and he grew up with dogs in his childhood. Chris loves the outdoors and understands the needs of active dogs - our pooch has enjoyed many longer walks with him when we have been on vacation.

“Chris looked after our springer spaniel, Bailey, for four nights and I honestly don’t think he wanted to come home. From the moment we met Chris and Harper, we knew Bailey was in safe hands. Chris took the time to understand Bailey’s routine, quirks and endless energy levels, and treated him like one of his own. We received regular updates, photos and videos of their adventures across Dartmoor, which completely put our minds at ease while we were away. Bailey came back happy, relaxed and thoroughly exhausted from all the walks and attention. It’s obvious that Chris genuinely loves dogs and understands how important it is for owners to feel confident leaving them with someone else. We wouldn’t hesitate to book him again and have already recommended him to friends.” — Sarah & Tom, Exeter
