Chris can care for
Availability
I work from home with my own small business and set my hours. Sometimes I may need to come home for a few hours for events and meetings. The more advance notice I have, the longer I can stay with your babies (especially if that's what they need). My calendar is usually up to date, yet feel free to check in, and I will get back to you ASAP :)

Safety, trust & environment
I've ALWAYS loved dogs but have yet to have an opportunity to have any of my own (just taking advantage of when roommates have had them). I first started working with them in high school when I volunteered at the Pet Adoption Fund in Canoga Park, CA. I spent at least 2 hours every Saturday walking dogs until they found forever homes. My background is in social work (I have my bachelor's and masters in it) and community organizing. This means I have to earn trust and create safer environments for people, and I can easily extend that to fur babies.
Information Chris M. would like to know about your pet
It's crucial for me to know as much about your pet(s) as possible! Any temperament, routine, and health concerns are some of the basics. Are there breeds they cannot be around? Do they play fetch? Are they friendly toward people and other animals? Food aggression? Do they want to be left alone? Anything I should watch for? The more details, the better!
A typical day
Do let me know your pet's unique needs, favorite toys, and spots. I spend as much time with your loved ones as possible, especially on weekends. I'm available on most holidays. Happy to be couch potatoes with them, go on walks, and play. Each pet is different, and I try to recreate their usual routine as much as possible. I only stay overnight with them in your home because it's hard enough that you'll be gone (everyone says their pets are OK, but they really do miss you. I can always tell). Extra house-sitting services I'm happy to bring in any mail and packages, water plants, bring bins in/out for trash day or help keep the general routine of the house while you are away. Please let me know what you need ahead of time to make sure we are on the same page.

Silly human missing having own pets
Pet care experience
My ideal companions are at least one year old, adequately trained, good with people, and social with other animals on and off-leash. Exceptions to these rules are considered, yet the cost of services may go up. Do let me know the unique needs of your companion. Since I cannot have pets right now, this is a mutually beneficial opportunity for us. Dogs and cats are my favorites; I love all animals, but some from a distance...! I've had cats (they passed away of old age), and I've lived with dogs and birds for several years. I was a regular sitter in California while I was finishing my college degrees. I recently was asked to cat sit for a family member and realized how much I miss pet sitting. I'm incredibly respectful of places and have no desire to snoop through your things.

Thanks for taking such great care of our pup!

We have used Chris before to pet/house sit and as always-he is wonderful! I think Jazz enjoys her time with him very much!

Chris takes wonderful care of our pup! So nice to know we are leaving her in good hands :)

Chris was an excellent pet sitter for our dog, Cammie and cat, Sid. He met with us ahead of time to make sure that our shy pup would be comfortable and was patient while letting her warm up. We appreciate his check ins while we were away and keeping our home tidy for our return. We look forward to having Chris watch our pets again!
