Safety, trust & environment

I can board pets at our home, which has a fairly large backyard (about 7,000sq ft) with mature trees and shaded areas. My home is calm and quiet—perfect for dogs who need a relaxed atmosphere. I maintain consistent routines and supervise all interactions between pets to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe. Pets can stay inside, sleep on one two large confy dog beds, or on our couch / armchairs (unless you prefer they don't learn that behavior- please let me know). We live in a really nice and walkable residential neighbourhood perfect for small and extra long walks in a safe environement. We also have a dog washing station at home and I can provide baths for an additional small fee.

A typical day

I love to help pets feel comfortable and build trust in a way that ensure we speak the same language. I do not bring dogs to dog parks and only walk them in areas I know are safe, our neighbouurhood (Centennial) is perfect for short dog walking and we have dog-friendly parks nearby for longer hikes.

Pet care experience

I love animals and have experience with elderly cats and dogs with special needs, as well as bunnies, chickens and goats. I know it can be difficult to find good care for our furry friends and I am happy to lend a helping hand to other pet owners when possible. I have extensive experience with elderly and special needs pets and with administering medications ( pills, oral injections, subcutaneous injections). At this time, I CANNOT care for PUPPIES nor DOGS WITH HIGH PREY DRIVE, as I have an elderly cat with cancer and limited mobility. My specializations: Cats/ Dogs: - Elderly animals – Senior pets with age-related needs and comfort requirements - Pets requiring medications – Pills, oral syringes, subcutaneous injections, and complex medication schedules - Dogs with limited mobility – Experience with mobility support, assistance with bathroom needs, and gentle handling - Socially anxious pets – Care for dogs with social anxiety, under-socialization (not aggressive), or "COVID / velcro dog" behaviors Chickens: - Proper nutrition and protein supplementation, correcting unwanted behaviors (brooding, egg pecking), spotting signs of parasite infestation and common diseases (Marek's disease), treating pasty butts Goats: - Goats – Proper nutrition and mineral supplementation, parasite prevention, recognizing signs of anemia (FAMACHA method) and other health issues, understanding their dietary needs and personalities What makes my service different: - Home all day – I work from home, so pets receive constant supervision and companionship (never left alone) - Pet sitting insurance – Professional coverage for your peace of mind - Senior & special needs specialist – Extensive experience with elderly pets, mobility issues, and chronic conditions - Medical care expertise – Comfortable with pills, oral syrinces, and subcutaneous injections - Secure fenced garden – Safe outdoor space for play and potty breaks - At home grooming station: I can give your dog a bath before handing the back to you (no other grooming services) Important: I cannot accept for boarding/day care in my home: ❌ Puppies under 1.5 year ❌ Extremely high-energy dogs requiring intensive exercise ❌ Dogs with high prey drive toward cats Why? My elderly and diasbled cat needs a calm environment where she feels safe and is not able to quickly run away or climb up if needed. Examples from my experience/Pets I've had the privilege of caring for: 1. I've taken care of an Australian Shepard mix who developed a neurological disease and wasn't able to walk on his own for over a year. I learnt how to support him to go to the bathroom and still live a meaningful life. 2. Took care of a 15 year old cat with renal failure, doing daily under-skin fluid injections and managing water intake and increased urination. 3. Cared for 16 year-old deaf and blind Border collie, with mild senile dementia. 4. I currenty have have an energetic Australian Kelpie with social anxiety and have experience dealing with "COVID dogs" or dogs who haven't been socialized a lot and may need some extra attention or are nervous around other people and dogs. 5. I worked as a permaculture consultant for 8 months, taking care of 12 chickens and 5 goats for a bay area homestead. I have expertise in providing correct food, and protein supplements for chickens health as well as prevent and spot issues with parasites.

Chiara is a gem of a dog sitter for my super senior Mighty Mouse. He had an update on his feeding routine and she was on top of it. She was very patient with him and his needs and kept me updated the whole stay. She provided peace of mind knowing that he was in her kind hands!

Chiara took great care of Peanut, my 16yo deaf semi-blind senior dog who requires several oral and eye medications. She also provided a daily update with photos and was very easy to coordinate with.

Chiara took such good care of my senior dog, Mighty Mouse and I'm so glad she was available. Not only was she so kind during our meet and greet, she was so prepared to accommodate all his gear and special requests to stick to his routine once it was time for his stay. Chiara also took really cute photos of him to send to me. We'd gladly rebook with Chiara.
