As a San Francisco Native, long time animal owner, foster and animal shelter worker, to newly certified dog trainer. I am looking to use my skills beyond the shelter to help my neighbors and their pets to live their best lives. So, if you are looking for support with a newly adopted dog, struggling with a cat scratching or nocturnal behaviors, or you just want a trusted person to hang with your dog while you get some work done - I am here to help! I use positive reinforcement, science backed methods of training and have worked with a variety of concerns from alone time training, adolescent/exuberant dogs, reactivity, resource guarding and transition stress to anxiety/fear around city life and house training. With cats, I have worked on nuisance behaviors, inter-cat aggression, inappropriate elimination and cooperative care. From a childhood dream of being a veterinarian to an adult working at SF SPCA and East Bay SPCA who is committed to using the best of science backed research to help your pets lead lives of choice, fun and joy. In my day job I give vaccines, have given subcutaneous fluids and meds and have worked with countless puppies on manners. I have experience target training cats for cooperative care - did you know nail trims can be relaxing? If you need help, ask away.

Safety, trust & environment
I prefer to watch pets in their homes so the routine is as consistent as possible. I do ask that dogs can be left alone for a maximum of 4 hours so that on days that I work, a potty break at lunch and a fun enrichment activity can get them through until an after work walk or training session.

Chiara walked our dog Casey a couple times this week. She was very attentive, interested in the dog and enthusiastic about spending some time with her on a walk! As first-time foster-ers, we felt a bit overwhelmed by how much exercise and stimulation our dog needed, however Chiara talked with us at length on behaviors she noticed, typical behaviors of the dog's breed, and ideas and options for how best to care for her. She clearly has a heart for and dedication to the various doggos she encounters and we really appreciate these qualities in someone who we entrust with a member of our family. We felt much more at ease after speaking with her and are very happy to have worked with Chiara! We would definitely like to have her help us with our pets in the future and would definitely recommend to anyone! PS. Related to COVID, she arrived with a mask, single use gloves for the duration of the dog-walk, noted that she would limit surfaces touched and was very conscientious of our safety, which we greatly appreciate during this time!
Chiara was awesome and took great care of my two kitties. She sent me daily updates with photos so I could tell they were happy! Easy to communicate with and very sweet. Would definitely book with her again and you should too!

Schedule
I currently work at an animal shelter but I am available mornings and evenings for drop ins and of course for overnights. I can make exceptions if I am given enough notice but I do ask that dogs be able to be left alone for a maximum of 4 hours with a potty break at lunch and bigger walks in the morning or after work (or both!)

- I am open to all breeds and have a special love for some big block headed mutts. I love active dogs - so don’t let your dogs enthusiasm dissuade you. But for seniors and couch potatoes I can play a rousing game of tug or fetch and go on nice leisurely strolls around the neighborhood as well.
