Home with fully fenced, large yard!

Your pup will have access to the entire house, including my couches, my bed, and a fully fenced yard. You provide your dog (and the food - no reason to change your pup's diet while you're gone)...bring as much or as little of his or her stuff as you'd like, but I have plenty of toys, treats and beds that your baby will have a great time! Your dog gets to sleep anywhere they want - I've had them sleep on the bed, under the bed, next to the bed, on the couch...Some dogs even steal the cat beds, and that okay too...they're pretty used to it. :) I have a thing for senior doggies...grey little faces are my weakness. They get spoiled badly here. :) Speaking of seniors - I work as a veterinary technician, and I'm very comfortable giving medication, SQ fluids or insulin injections if your dog has any special medical needs. For diabetic dogs on a strictly timed injection protocol, let's talk first and make sure it's a right fit. I have cats that aren't bothered by dogs. If you do have a larger girl or guy (over my weight limit) who is already confirmed cat friendly dog...let's talk. Your dog hasn't ever met a cat? No worries - we'll set up a meeting beforehand. My cat Joe is always up for meeting new people and their pups. And 98% of the dogs who have never met a cat are fine! My backyard is largish for Chicago standards and fully fenced. Your dog will be supervised at all times while outside. I have had several experienced escape artists attempt to find any holes in my fence - and I'm glad to say there are none! Other good to know things - I do work full time at Anti Cruelty during the week, however I've been known to bring dogs to work with me if they're anxious or worried. Other than working, I'm never really gone for longer than a couple hours at a time. - While I don't require dogs to be crate trained, they should be comfortable with being crated for a few minutes or a half an hour without panicking. I will crate sometimes to redirect a skirmish, or if other owners are picking up or dropping off dogs just to avoid complete mayhem. (You've been a victim of that Chewy commercial where the doorbell rings and your dog goes completely bonkers, right?) Yep...that times three. - You'd rather not have your dog around other dogs? That's fine too - please let me know far in advance so I can block out that time for you, I don't have a problem doing that. I only will take multiple dogs from different households with both owners' permission...and only if I think they will be compatible. I also don't host dogs together who I don't think are compatible (like a 10 lb senior with a 35 pound teenager). - I also welcome cats (although I HIGHLY recommend drop in visits for cats..they like their own home so much better) and small animals such as rabbits, guineas, rats and mice in a non dog area - please contact me for rates. - My husband is an animal lover as well! (And dogs love to nap on him, he's like a self warming couch.) I have been with Rover since 2014 and it all started because I love dogs, but don't have time for a "full time" pup of my own. This blossomed into a pretty steady stream of regulars that I welcome all the time (and I consider my dog nieces and nephews)! I'd be happy to provide references upon request!

Cheryl was fantastic with our dog! She has a safe home with numerous toys and animals that our dog got along with. We received updates about our dog and knew she was well cared for. We would recommend her to anyone!

Cheryl is the only one I trust to take care of my fur babies. She's warm and loving, friendly and my dogs love going to her , always happy to see her. Over the years, I've taken all my dogs to her whenever I need a dog sitter.

Cheryl is amazing as always. We have used her for a long time with our first dog, and this time she also had our new 2nd dog. Our new pup is a handful and Cheryl was very communicative and patient with him. Highly professional, with frequent updates and always looking out for the best for all her guests. We appreciate Cheryl so much.

Schedule

My full time job revolves around pets. Believe it or not, I want more of it when I get home. I don't have a dog, but I love to borrow them!

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced yard where pups are always supervised. Other than that, I treat them like they've lived here their entire lives. If doing drop ins in your home, I understand and completely respect your privacy, and don't go into any rooms with closed doors.

A typical day

I have soooo many new smells in my yard that dogs love to explore it (and pee on them all...it's all good :)). I have couches and a large window to watch the neighborhood, and a park that is dog friendly a 15 minute walk away.

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
Spayed and neutered dogs only
No females in heat
Cheryl can host up to 2 pets per night
- I'd love to know how they "ask" to go out. - Anything they are frightened of (like fireworks, unknown people, etc.) - If they are allowed treats or a bit of people food now and then. - Any medications of course. - If there's any possessiveness with food or toys.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
