Pet care experience

Retired dog biz owner/behaviorist

Hello, I am the former owner/operator of Dog Play Afternoon, cage free boarding and training in VA. with over 25 plus years of experience training, walking, sitting and caring for animals. I have recently moved my six rescue dogs, four feral cats and tortious to Elgin, AZ to live on 36 acres and start my non-profit animal sanctuary. I am also retired from Real Estate and so I have plenty of time to walk, treat and love on your fury kids. I strive to give top notch care and the attention they (and you) deserve. I will never allow another person into your home or allow anyone other than myself to walk or care for your pet. You will meet with and interview ME and I will be the one and only person (with emergency exception) to enter your home or care for your pet. Don't trust your personal space and the health of your fur kids to just anyone. Hire a professional who knows how to handle the sometimes crazy, unpredictable things pets can and will do.

Cheryl was phenomenal! She took care of my high need diabetic and blind dog plus my easy going male and a skittish Yorkie. They are a handful. Cheryl was on time as usual and made sure they were all taken care of before leaving. We will definitely use her again and highly recommend her!

We loved having Ms. Cheryl! We have had bad experiences in the past and Cheryl made us feel at ease with her watching over our fur babies! While away she updated with pictures and just to say hi. Upon our return our babies were healthy & happy to see us but when Cheryl brought back the keys they were happy to see her again which is always a good sign! We will definitely be booking her for our next time away. Thank you, Cheryl!!

If you're looking for a trust worthy individual to care for your dog, look no further. Whether it be a simple walk or for an overnight stay, Cheryl will love on your pooch just as she does her own. The first time I made arrangements with Cheryl to watch my dog, I was a bit apprehensive about leaving my dog with someone new. Cheryl sensed my uneasiness and made the introduction process as simple as could be. We scheduled a home visit so my dog could explore her home and get comfortable before the actual stay. During the first of many overnight stays, Cheryl sent me regular updates about how things were going. From an occasional text, to pics, and even videos of our dogs playing together. Her dog, Stella, is a such sweet little thing that your dog and her will be fast friends. Cheryl is one of only a handful of people I feel confident to leave my dog with. Your beloved pup will be well cared for in her hands.

We used Cheryl for approximately a year to watch our highly active German Shorthaired Pointer (60lb.) She is a VERY experienced dog owner and trainer. We would have loved to keep using her but her travels took her to the West Coast :( We have only left our dog in the care of 3 people, and Cheryl was one of them. She was extremely attentive to all aspects/needs - exercise, behavior, attention and even helped us understand that our dog was developing a food allergy. We are still grateful today for her help figuring that out as the vets couldn't diagnose!

I can care for any breed of dog or cat. I will ask several questions before taking on your job such as what your regular feeding and exercise routine is What you allow your pet to do and what is off limits. I strive to make your pets routine as similar and regular as possible.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
