Gentle and Responsible Caregiver

I am an active, caring and responsible retired female who loves animals and the outdoors. I am quiet, a non-smoker, fit and very energetic I have had cats and dogs throughout my life, but since my beloved cat Cleo, who was with me for 15 years, passed away at age 16, I have not been able to replace her. Having recently retired, I have a lot of spare time on my hands and since I like to stay active, I feel that caring for dogs and cats will give me the companionship and exercise that I need. I will look after your pet as if it was my own -- I will feed, walk, play and cuddle with him/her; brush, bathe and continue training practices if you require; and provide medication if needed. I love to walk; so I'm happy to take your dog with me to explore the trails in the area, or stick to walking in town if that is what your dog is used to. If you need a house sitter, I am available to look after both your house and furry friend. I want to make your pet feel as comfortable and loved as it is when you're at home; and I want you to feel comfortable knowing that both are well-cared for while you're away. I am also happy to water any indoor and/or outdoor plants you may have, and do some basic yard work in your absence.

Safety, trust & environment

I have not had the luxury of a fenced yard while I have owned dogs, so I never let them out without staying close by. If not on a leash, I kept a very watchful eye on them (and a few treats in my pocket in case I needed to lure them back!). Being a lover of the outdoors, I enjoyed taking them for frequent walks 2 or 3 times a day no matter what the weather. I have had both indoor and outdoor cats, all of which were great companions. Frequent brushing and application of flea and tick medication kept their coats problem-free; and my last cat lived a long and happy 16 years.

I am grateful to have found Cheryl for our place. She is communicative and easy to get along with. She took great care of everything from Zeus, the chickens, the garden, and said hello to our cat Bella. At the same time, she had some quiet time at our Air B n B Creekside Retreat. Thank you.

Cheryl is amazing! She took care of my two senior cats for 5 nights while I was away at a work conference. I was very anxious about leaving them, especially my sweet 'momma's boy' who's usually doesn't warm up to others. However, when Cheryl came to meet the cats for the first time, Charlie walked right up to her and gave her a big ol' head bump; that was the moment I knew they were in good hands. Cheryl was incredibly flexible, great with communication and left the apartment absolutely spotless (no small feat with two shedding cats!). I'm so incredibly grateful that I found her and am actually looking forward to planning some holiday time away knowing I have someone the cats are comfortable with :)

My mom is an animal lover. We grew up with pets, usually having at least a cat in the house, but we've also had dogs and other pets that us kids insisted on including gerbils and snakes. Inevitably these fell to her to care for. When our family cat had a surprise litter of kittens it was my mom who ensured they were looked after, eventually adopting out all but the runt of the litter, who we kept and loved for years. Her most recent pet, a shelter cat named Cleo, lived a long and happy life alongside my mom for 15 years, until she passed away from old age about a year ago. This devistated our family. While she has considered adopting a new pet since, it's hard to replace a cat as wonderful as Cleo, so instead my brother suggested house/pet sitting might be great for the interim, until she's ready for a new best friend. Aside from caring for pets, my mom is a respectful and incredibly caring person. Her home is kept clean at all times, and she puts a lot of effort into ensuring her property is well taken care of, as she will for yours, too. She would be a stellar candidate for taking care of your pet and home.

I'd like to know about any special medical requirements of course. If your dog has any behavioral issues such as a tendency to be aggressive towards other dogs, I'd like to know that in advance so I know what to be wary of.
