Pet care experience

I love your dog like it's mine!

Hi! I’m Cheryl, and I’ve called beautiful Charleston home since 2015. Dogs have always been a big part of our family, and caring for them is something I genuinely love. My passion for providing a comfortable, home-like alternative to kennels began with my own rescue dog, Charlie. After one stressful kennel stay left him extremely anxious, I knew I wanted something different for him—and for other dogs whose families need to travel. I want every dog who stays with me to feel safe, relaxed, loved, and part of the family until their people come home. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs of all ages, personalities, and sizes—from tiny Bolognese to Great Pyrenees, puppies to seniors. My three sons have grown up around dogs and are wonderful with them as well. Our family has also helped nurse abused and neglected dogs back to health, so I understand that some dogs need a little extra patience, reassurance, and time to feel secure. Dogs staying with me are treated like family, not boarders. I want them to enjoy their own little vacation while you enjoy yours—and I want you to be able to leave knowing your dog is in loving hands. My goal is simple: while you’re away, your dog should always know that someone loves them. and senior dogs. I am up to the challenge of giving your dog the best time away from home it can have.

Schedule

Caring for dogs is a natural and joyful part of my everyday routine. I’m home most of the day, so dogs in my care receive plenty of attention, companionship, potty breaks, and opportunities to relax and play. I also enjoy walks and spending time outdoors, making regular exercise an easy and enjoyable part of their day. I keep my schedule flexible and do my best to follow each dog’s familiar routine, including feeding times, walks, medications, and bedtime habits. Every dog has a different personality—some love to play and be involved in everything, while others prefer to relax quietly nearby. I’m happy to meet each dog where they are and help them feel comfortable. Most importantly, dogs staying with me are treated like part of the family. They receive the care, patience, affection, and attention they need to feel safe, happy, and at home while they’re here.

Safety, trust & environment

I know it takes a lot of trust to leave your dog in someone else’s care, so their safety and comfort are always a priority in my home. I take time to learn each dog’s routine, personality, boundaries, and any special needs before their stay. Dogs are supervised carefully, given plenty of opportunities for potty breaks and exercise, and have comfortable places to rest and relax. I pay attention to how dogs interact with one another and never force a nervous or shy dog into situations that make them uncomfortable. I want my home to feel like a second home—safe, relaxed, and full of affection. I also keep owners updated so you can enjoy your time away knowing your dog is happy and well cared for.

Pets

A typical day

I want dogs to have fun while they’re here! Depending on what your dog enjoys, our days can include neighborhood walks, backyard playtime, games of fetch, toys, lots of sniffing and exploring, or simply hanging out together. For dogs who love activity, I’m happy to keep them moving and entertained. For the professional couch potatoes, I’m equally happy to provide belly rubs, snuggles, and a comfortable place to snooze. Every dog has their own idea of a good time, so I try to make their stay feel like their kind of vacation—not mine!
