Cats have been a big part of my work throughout my years as a veterinary assistant in general practice, ER, and specialty clinics. Working in veterinary medicine gave me a lot of experience handling cats with different personalities, from very social cats to those that are shy or easily stressed. I’m comfortable reading feline body language and taking things at the cat’s pace so they feel as relaxed as possible. Some cats warm up quickly, while others prefer a little space at first, and I’m happy to respect whatever makes them comfortable. Because of my veterinary background, I’m also comfortable administering medications if your cat needs them, including oral medications, injections such as insulin, and subcutaneous fluids. Many of the cats I’ve cared for have been seniors or had medical needs, so I understand how important it is to be patient, gentle, and attentive to changes in behavior. I’m very comfortable with shy or cautious cats and always let them approach me at their own pace. I’m also happy to care for senior cats or those who need medications or extra monitoring while their owners are away. Most cats are happiest staying in their own home, so I focus on keeping their routine familiar and low-stress while you’re away. I’m also careful to keep litter boxes clean and check food, water, and general behavior during each visit. I keep an eye out for changes in appetite, litter box habits, or behavior that might indicate a health concern. My goal is always to make sure cats feel safe and comfortable in their own environment while their owners are away.
