Pet care experience

Looking for furry friends!

*Scheduling and availability specifics can be found below! I am a petsitter working in and around Omaha! I have owned cats, dogs, and other types of small pets throughout my entire life. Between helping senior pets find comfort at the end of their journeys, and nursing newborn puppies and kittens, my experience is all over the map. I have also cared for pets with special needs, and have experience administering all types of medications to dogs, cats, and even rodents—this includes oral, topical, and injected. I have also been the caretaker of a feral cat colony in my neighborhood. I have socialized more spicy kittens than I can count, and every pet I’ve ever owned has been a rescue, so I’m no stranger to behavioral problems and “difficult” cases. In addition, I’ve also volunteered with local shelters, attended veterinary camps at the NEHS and Iowa Western, as well as various training courses with my own pets. Currently, I am also a student majoring in animal health and behavior- I hope to continue my work in the pet care field after graduating!

Safety, trust & environment

I come from a family of folks working in animal husbandry; I grew up with a parent who was a veterinary technician, and who provided foster care and volunteer work for local rescues well into my childhood. The rest of my folks owned ranches, and hosted pets and livestock of all kinds. I've owned many different species of critters from an early age- currently I have my own dog, two rabbits, and a fully stocked and planted 40g aquarium! Caring for our animal counterparts has always been the most important part of my life. I am currently halfway through my degree, pursuing a BS in animal health and behavior- while Rover only offers booking options for dogs and cats, I am always eager to work with other critters as well! Whether they be barnyard sized-friends, or pocket pals, I am open to anything and anyone. There’s very few creatures/circumstances I haven’t worked with at this point, so I’m always looking for new experience. !! I am a safe person for immigrants, POC, LGBT2QIA+ folks, disabled folks—ANYONE. Hate has no home here. !! I'm hoping to gain even more experience helping local families and their furbabies for the foreseeable future! *Yes, I work all holidays! Unless my calendar is blocked off, I am usually available. The only days that I do not work are loved ones’ birthdays.

Charlie is fantastic. We’ve had her sit at our house several times and she’s always very reliable and responsive. She’s always our first choice when we need a dog/house sitter.

Another 5 star experience having Charlie do daily drop ins for our cat. She takes the time to ensure he’s given care and attention, and documents each visit with photos and a thorough status update. We appreciate her kindness with our cat and her attention to detail. We are repeat customers due to her great work!

We’re so happy to have found Charlie! She took such good care of our kitties 😻. We have an 18 year old kitty that needs pills 2x p/day and Charlie had no issue taking care of that! I would recommend her to everyone I know!

Schedule

I have loads of experience petsitting for family and friends in the past, and it’s been my full-time job for over four years now. I could not be luckier! I usually have at least one housesitting job booked at a time, as well as ten different ‘regulars’ who I do dog walking for on weekdays. Frequently, especially around holidays, I also have drop-ins scheduled with other families throughout the daytime and evenings. Since pet care is a full-time job for me, I don’t have traditional shifts at work I need to worry about getting to. All my school work is done from my laptop as well, so I don’t need to go anywhere for classes either. Of course, I still have personal obligations and other clients to take care of, but generally I am fairly flexible. If you ever have questions about scheduling, please don’t be afraid to ask! Some notes about specific weekly obligations— * I am busy on Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons/evenings, and am often out late at night for these obligations. * I try not to schedule meet-and-greets or drop-ins between 6:30pm and 8:30pm most weekdays… I don’t get traditional ‘lunch breaks’ or take any days off*, so I try to carve out some time for myself during this window! Exceptions can be made to these weekly commitments on a case-by-case basis, so don’t feel as if they are absolute dealbreakers. However—I am unfortunately not able to accommodate pets that cannot be left alone for at least 6+ hours, (8+ to be comfortable). Sorry! * I am not currently able to accept new “regulars” for dog walking or other services between the hours of 10:00am-3:00pm on weekdays. I may be able to take bookings during these hours on occasion, but cannot commit to them consistently every week. * I have a pup of my own! She is about 25lbs, friendly with other dogs and cats, crate trained, house-broke, and non-destructive. Though, she can be extremely shy with unfamiliar humans. She is my biggest restriction when it comes to booking housesitting jobs—if you are comfortable/ willing to let her stay at your home along with me, it opens up my availability a bunch!

I always start with going over a pet’s day-to-day routine—When do they wake up? When/how much do they eat? Do they have any walks they take on a regular basis? What about medications? How often does litter get scooped? And more—I always go over all this information during the initial meet and greet. Usually during these first meetings, I also like to get a peek at the space I’ll be working in, and where all the pet supplies are stored—in addition to meeting the critters, of course! I also try to have their healthcare provider on record, (just as a precaution!), and the specifications surrounding any medications they may be taking. Information on their personality and behavior quirks they may have is always a bonus as well—it is much easier to plan a visit and bond with an animal when I have an idea of what’s going on in their head. I always encourage owners to share any additional details about their pet that may not be covered by my questions—every animal is different! I also encourage folks to ask as many questions as they need to feel comfortable and confident about leaving their furry family members in my care. I get it- leaving your baby with a stranger is stressful. It’s totally natural to be anxious, and I want to do whatever I can to ease that anxiety.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
