I have loads of experience petsitting for family and friends in the past, and it’s been my full-time job on Rover for about four years now. I could not be luckier! I usually have at least one housesitting job booked at a time, (check my calendar for availability!), as well as ten different ‘regulars’ who I do dog walking for on weekdays. Frequently, especially around holidays, I may also have drop-ins I need to do with other families throughout the daytime and evenings, but generally I am never gone for more than 5-6 hours at a time. I am able to spend most of my time outside of this with the pets I’m housesitting for! Since Rover is full-time for me, I never have shifts at work I need to worry about getting to, and all my school work is done from my laptop, so I don’t need to go anywhere for classes either. Of course, I still have the occasional personal obligation and other clients to take care of, but generally I am pretty flexible. If you ever have questions about scheduling, please don’t be afraid to ask! Some notes about specific weekly obligations— * I am busy on Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons/evenings, and am often out late. * I try not to schedule meet-and-greets or drop-ins between 6:30pm and 8:30pm most days… I don’t get traditional ‘lunch breaks’ or take any days off*, so I try to carve out some time for myself during this window! Exceptions can be made to these weekly commitments on a case-by-case basis, so don’t feel as if they are absolute dealbreakers! However—I am unfortunately not able to accommodate pets that cannot be left alone for at least 5 hours, (6+ to be comfortable). Sorry!

I come from a family of folks working in animal husbandry; I grew up with a parent who was a veterinary technician, and who provided foster care and volunteer work for local rescues well into my childhood. The rest of my folks owned ranches, and hosted pets and livestock of all kinds. I've owned many different species of critters from an early age- currently I have two rabbits, and a fully stocked and planted aquarium! Caring for our four-legged counterparts has always been the most important part of my life. I am currently halfway through my degree, pursuing a bachelor’s in animal health and behavior- while Rover only offers booking options for dogs and cats, I am always eager to work with other critters as well! Whether they be barnyard sized-friends, or pocket pals, I am open to anything and anyone. There’s very few creatures/circumstances I haven’t worked with at this point, so I’m always looking for new experience. !! I am a safe person for immigrants, POC, LGBT2QIA+ folks, disabled folks- ANYONE. Hate has no home here. !! I'm hoping to gain even more experience helping local families and their furbabies for the foreseeable future! *Yes, I work all holidays! Unless my calendar is blocked off, I am usually available. The only days that I do not work are loved ones’ birthdays.

Information Charlie C. would like to know about your pet

I always start with going over a pet’s day-to-day routine- When do they wake up? When/how much do they eat? Do they have any walks they take on a regular basis? What about medications? How often does litter get scooped? And more—I always go over all this information during the initial meet and greet. Usually during these first meetings, I also like to get a peek at the space I’ll be working in, and where all the pet supplies are stored—in addition to meeting the critters, of course! I also try to have their healthcare provider on record, (just as a precaution!), and the specifications surrounding any medications they may be taking. Information on their personality and behavior quirks they may have is always a bonus as well—it is much easier to plan a visit and bond with an animal when I have an idea of what’s going on in their head. I always encourage owners to share any additional details about their pet that may not be covered by my questions—every animal is different! I also encourage folks to ask as many questions as they need to feel comfortable and confident about leaving their furry family members in my care. I get it- leaving your baby with a stranger is stressful! It’s totally natural to be anxious, and I want to do whatever I can to ease that anxiety.

A typical day

I try to follow the general outline of your pet’s usual routine, especially during my initial visits- I don’t want to cause any additional stress by switching up their day more than it already is with a sitter around. But when it comes to filling the gaps, I am always happy to work on some training, play chase in the yard, or just lounge around and take a nap on the couch. Once we’ve had some time to get to know each other, though, I’m always open to taking a trip out of the house*. That could mean spending an afternoon at the dog park, hiking at the nearest lake, or going through a drive-through for a pup cup- all at the owner’s discretion of course! * Ask me about keeping pets safe while driving! I have a couple different ‘car seat’ options for pets of various sizes and temperaments.

Pet care experience

*Scheduling and availability specifics can be found below! Unfortunately I am not currently able to accept new “regulars” for dog walking or other services between the hours of 10:00am-3:00pm on weekdays. I may be able to take bookings during these hours on occasion, but cannot commit to them consistently every week. Sorry! I am a petsitter working in and around Omaha! I have owned cats, dogs, and other types of small pets throughout my entire life. Between helping senior pets find comfort at the end of their journeys, and nursing newborn puppies and kittens, my experience is all over the map. I have also cared for pets with special needs, and have experience administering all types of medications to dogs, cats, and even rodents- this includes oral, topical, and injections. I am also the caretaker of a feral cat colony in my neighborhood. I have socialized more spicy kittens than I can count, and every pet I’ve ever owned has been a rescue, so I’m no stranger to behavioral problems and “difficult” cases. In addition, I’ve also volunteered with local shelters, attended veterinary camps at the NEHS and Iowa Western, as well as various training courses with my own pets. Currently, I am also a student majoring in animal health and behavior- I hope to continue my work in the pet care field after graduating!

Charlie is fantastic. We’ve had her sit at our house several times and she’s always very reliable and responsive. She’s always our first choice when we need a dog/house sitter.
