Our time is focused on the dogs that stay here, and they are typically not left alone in the house. Except in rare circumstances, we provide 24/7 around the clock care and love for our doggies in a crate-free “home” environment. We watch movies and cook in the kitchen to an audience of interested dogs, hang out on the deck tending to plants and involve the dogs in every aspect of our household activities much like they would be if they were at home.

Safety, trust & environment

All dogs must have a leash and collar with identification. We implement the double-door method to avoid accidental escapes meaning the outer garage door closes before the inner back door to the house opens. And vice versa. We don’t accept dogs that either dig to escape fences or climb to get over them. The typical dog that stays here is not the type inclined to leave because they really enjoy visiting and often aren’t incredibly mobile or agile.

Information Charles T. would like to know about your pet

We have a preference toward senior dogs ages 10-20+ (yes we have dogs come that are 20) often with special needs such as blind, deaf, or separation anxiety. We can accommodate younger, more active dogs depending upon the special needs of any existing reservations and overall activity needs. Our environment is not very active, so if your dog is the type the requires a higher level of physical activity and engagement we recommend looking for a more active doggie household. For most dogs under the age of 5, a trial daycare day will be required to best assess the dog's ability to adapt to our very low-key, relaxed senior dog environment. We have many younger dogs and even some puppies that are thrilled to stay here, and perfectly content with the low to medium level of dog activity here. If your dog has ever bitten anyone or any dog, then we do not accept them. If there are other special circumstances we can discuss them at the initial meeting.

A typical day

Your dog's sleeping arrangement: We don't have crates or cages, and prefer not to use them unless your pet is accustomed to such at home. In that case, we ask that you provide your own crate and bedding with instructions on your dog's usual schedule. Most doggie guests sleep on a variety of comfy dog beds throughout my bedroom suite at night (often in the bed). Whatever they are used to doing at home is what we strive to accomplish here around the clock. We have multiple options for sleeping areas that can be suited to your specific needs and desires. Time I'll spend with your dog: Working from home and being self-employed allows me to cater my schedule to the needs of my doggie guest(s). The dogs are always a priority in this house. They will get our personal attention, sofa cuddles, walks, play time and tv time just like they might get normally at home. Multiple family members live adjacent, and they are able to stay at the house when I'm out running errands or out to dinner. For post-surgical or acute care, we can set up a private guest bedroom for your pet. I can also sleep in that room with them during the night, if needed. The amount of time spent with each doggie guest depends on their/your needs, desires and abilities. Some dogs stay right by my side all day, and then they sleep beside me in bed all night! Some dogs enjoy having their own private room where they hang out and sleep alone for most of their stay. Every dog is different.

Pet care experience

I'm a self-employed legal professional and certified mediator. Now I focus full-time on the "special needs" dog care business. We have plenty of space (4,600 sqft on 4 acres) and lots of love + attention to share. Your dog will go home happy and healthy after their vacation here! All ages + sizes may be welcome after an in-home meeting! Dogs without special needs are welcome, too! Premium sensitive food, whole-food supplements & treats all-inclusive, if desired. We have plenty of space freely accessible inside and fenced outside for cage-free doggie comfort! Food & airborne allergy friendly! HEPA air purifiers in every room plus central high-efficiency whole-house allergy filtration. Memory foam orthopedic beds in various sizes throughout the house. Blankets+mats laundered daily using the sanitize cycle. Our home is a cleaner, healthier, safer, more comfortable, home+yard all-inclusive environment that truly cannot be compared to any kennel or "luxury" boarding facility. A variety of flexible spaces exist that can be set up to suit most any special need or request. The yard is 6' fenced including a wrap-around deck for daytime sunbathing (both sun and shade areas all day long), patio, trail and wooded area. Our 4 acre property has a wide variety of terrain for exploration in both fenced and un-fenced areas (with leashes, of course). Back yard and deck can be accessed without the use of stairs for dogs with mobility concerns. >>>>> CONTACT ME FOR A MEETING <<<<< Final pricing is based on any special needs, health conditions, disabilities and/or specialized routines. We can discuss your exact needs at a scheduled Meet and Greet at my house to determine a fair price for the services you and your dog(s) require. Rates may be higher for some holidays, weekends, and last minute reservations less than 7 days. Let's discuss your specific times/dates and the specific type of care that your dog requires. I'm available most any time to meet with you and your dog(s) at my home. Flexibility and patience allow me to handle nearly any type of special care or attention that your dogs requires. Do not hesitate to contact me if your pet has extreme special need, disabilities and health conditions. I am very experienced in this area, and cater my home to the dogs that may not be a good fit for more active households or kennels. My experience administering medication: Medications are easily and happily administered along with your vet's prescription bottle and contact info. I've used many tricks over the years for pills, and really all medications are easy if you have the right way to serve it! I've had many special needs and elderly dogs myself, and have cared for many older dogs that required pills, eye drops and/or injections multiple times a day. I am comfortable administering injected medications such as insulin. ALL medications, regardless of the form or purpose, must be sent in their original container(s) with the prescribing vet's label so I have instructions and prescriber contact in case I have any issues. I am not comfortable administering pills or any medications NOT in their original containers unless you have your vet contact me in advance with instructions, purpose and physical description of the medication. We take medications very seriously and are willing to follow ANY required dosing frequency and schedule.

Our senior (although he doesn't know it!) terrier's first time staying with Charles and Rosie, and he clearly had the most fun ever! Charles' daily updates and photos kept us from feeling the abandonment guilt (we all know that feeling, right?) and I know that next time we drop Angus off with Charles he will race in the door and not look back, ready for action. Thanks, Charles!
