Hello! My name is Charlee. I have a lot of different experience caring for animals. Volunteer work: I am a three time Best Friends Animal Sanctuary volunteer, and have cared for bunnies, cats and dogs while there. I spent 2 years volunteering at a local cat sanctuary and did litter pick ups and enclosure cleaning 1 day a week there. I have fostered dogs with a local rescue in the past and have experience with fostering difficult dogs and helping them with their rehab journey. Professional animal care experience: I started my professional pet care career at a local pet store and was in the pet care department. I cleaned fish tanks every week and provided daily deep cleaning to the small animals, birds and reptiles who lived there. I cared for sick animals while I was there and often times helped them back to a clean bill of health. I fed and watered fish, reptiles and small animals in my care. I oversaw fish shipments while there and helped ensure the fish were acclimated correctly. I am dog CPR certified and received that training while working at a local boarding/grooming facility. I worked here for five years and oversaw cat boarding, dog boarding, doggy daycare and grooming services. I cared for up to 100 dogs a day with a team of staff. I oversaw feeding of dogs and cats as well as cleaning of facilities and enclosures to ensure proper sanitation for the dogs and cats in our care. I properly handled and dispensed medications to animals as prescribed by their veterinarians and owners. I oversaw behavioral health of the animals and ensured no fighting or distress occurred and supported the animals with enrichment and affection. I ran my own dog training and hiking business for the last year of my professional pet career and would pick up dogs from their homes and take them for 1-2 hour hikes then drop them back off to their homes to offer enrichment. I assisted a professional trainer in providing group dog training classes. I worked for a local business for a year providing at home pet care. I visited people’s homes and provided care for their pets while they were gone. I cared for dogs, birds, reptiles, cats and small animals during that time. Personal animal experience: I own three cats and three dogs of my own. I also have two horses and ducks on my property that I care for. I have had my first dog and first pet for 12 years and she is my best friend. I have fostered any kind of animal you can think of and have had pets since I was a small child. I pursued a Zoology degree in college and have a really strong passion for animals of all kinds. I have experience with exotic animals and non exotic animals. I have helped rehabilitate animals who experienced abuse or neglect and fostered many animals who required longer term fosters before finding the right family. I love animals and respect them for the individuals that they are!
