Quality Pet Care With Love

Pet care experience

As a dog and cat mom myself, I know first hand how difficult it can be to find someone trustworthy, reliable, and nurturing to care for one’s pets. I am dedicated to alleviating that worry and stress by providing professional, compassionate, high quality care when pet parents can’t be there.
A former vet tech, I am especially perceptive and attuned to a pet’s medical needs, understand and adhere to veterinary instructions, and am trained to observe changes in an animal’s physical condition. I am also insured, licensed and bonded, and trained in Pet First Aid.
In addition, I am a certified dog walker through the dog*tec Dog Walking Academy. The only program of its kind for dog walkers, this widely respected program covers a comprehensive array of topics critical to professional dog walking, including canine behaviour, basic training predicated on positive reinforcement, management, and First Aid and safety protocols.
I have been a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner for 4 years. I offer positive reinforcement training such as clicker training, loose leash walking, go to mat, recall, name recognition, sit, stay, leave it, reorient towards handler when crossing threshold (i.e. going through doorway).
I also offer potty training advice and how to manage puppy biting. Hint: puppy biting is normal as they learn to explore their world. I provide tips and advice on how to help get through this sometimes scary, yet normal puppy development stage. 🤗

Cathrine frequently did house visits for my dogs when I was away for part of the day or evening. My boys loved her and so did I. She is very reliable, an excellent communicator, takes her own education as a caregiver seriously and treated by boys like they were her own. Her approach to my dogs was always that of a positive, reward based trainer. My dogs can be reactive with each other and I was never concerned about her ability to manage them if they did this while she was there. She didn’t just come, let them out for a pee and leave like some pet caregivers do. She engaged with them through play and some exercises I’d shown her and followed my instructions completely. I appreciated that she stored my keys in a locked key cabinet at her home. I was really sorry to see her leave our community.

Cathy looked after, or dog sat, our beautiful dog Chance for many years until his passing at age 15. She took such good care of him, that leaving Chance for a trip was less painful, as we knew Chance loved her and looked forward to her coming for visits. She always sent us photos of Chance while we were away and kept us right up to date on his health and wellness. Cathy is completely trustworthy, reliable and knowledgeable. We were so very fortunate to have found such an incredible dog sitter. I understand that Cathy has now moved to Kamloops and those of you there with pets , are lucky to have her in your community.

I highly recommend Cathrine (Cathy) as the best pet sitter we have ever had for our two cats! Cathy was our cat sitter for almost 6 years in Maple Ridge BC, until she moved to Kamloops area. On our initial meet and greet she took the time to get to know each of our cats and their needs and get to know our home and how best to do the food, fresh water and clean litter and of course learn their favourite toys, she would come to our house so the cats were not disrupted from their daily routine which was very convenient so we didn’t have move them. We traveled out for town often and Cathy would pet sit for use at least 6 times a year minimum, and sometimes for 3 weeks at a time. The best part is Cathy would send a daily report with pictures of both cats and what they were doing and how they were doing. Bodhi had surgery for a non descending testicle and had to have medical care to his abdomen with daily cleaning and cream applied ( his head in a cone) and Cathy was able to give him is oral pain meds and treat his dressings on his abdomen and care for him daily for us. With her background and education I felt so safe and confident leaving Bodhi with Cathy. Aside from the daily routine for feeding, changing water and changing litter, Cathy would take the time to play and cuddle with the cats and once when one of the cats had thrown up she stayed longer to make sure the cat was okay, and notified us of how he was doing. She has a special way with shy cats like our Nebbie, she would gently call to her and she would come for treats and scratches. She would drive to the house in rain, snow and a heat wave and make sure the cats had their daily visit. We left Cathy with our house key for years in which she kept in a safe box with the other families, and we would text her dates for cat sitting and she would confirm and come. It was such a beautiful relationship of trust and confidence for ourselves and our cats. We miss Cathy dearly, she is more than just a Pet Sitter, she is kind, gentle and genuinely cares for pets and families and because of that become a “member” in our family! You will love your experience with Cathy as your pet sitter!

I have been using Cathrine's dog care services for years. I have to travel for business, and I can't bring my dog with me. My dog gets to stay in her home, she gets to walk in a known area, and she has never shown signs of stress when I return. I would even say that my dog looks for Cathrine when I open the door upon returning. I would definitely recommend using her services.
