- Ristretto is a 1 year, 1 mo. old Labrador Retriever & Treeing Walker Coonhound in Richmond, VA
He loves to snuggle. The couches and bed are as much his as they are mine. He might snuggle up and sleep next to you at night. He also likes to share the pillow, and sometimes might use your head or shoulder as a pillow as well. His way to trust people is to get up in their face, boop noses with them and just sniff. 99% of the time he will NOT lick faces. He just likes to sniff. This is weird and invasive, yes, but if you are comfortable enough to allow this, he will warm up to you quicker. He drinks water very messily. He is doing his best but most of it dribbles right out of the sides of the mouth. It is quite hilarious, but also means you will need to fill up the dog bowls with water more frequently. He is 1 year old, but he is a PUPPY still. So he is high energy, loves to play, and LOVES mischief. If you do not supervise him he will eat things he shouldn't. He has a remote fetish, so please keep all remotes out of his reach. He will eat them and go for the batteries! Besides that he gets into normal puppy trouble if you aren't careful, I have lost some shoes, socks, paper products (bags, napkins, paper towel, wrapping paper, he LOVES to shred the stuff), a candle once, idk he gets creative. He is a trash pup as well. So gotta keep an eye on the trash cans. I find he gets into trouble when I am not giving him enough attention, like when I cook dinner, or am cleaning or something. He knows sit, lay down, leave it, crate (to go in the crate), drop your toy (he likes to take his toys outside and potty with them in his mouth then will drop them in strange places and lose them), Ristretto come (selective listening with this command but always worth a try or 3), Ristretto no (for when he does bad things), outside (he knows this means potty-time/play-time), and off (he is a jumper - on counters and people). However he is stubborn and has selective hearing and SNEAKY. He sneaks with shame though, so you can tell if has been bad by his body language. If you say "Ristretto no, drop it" in a strong teacher voice he will drop what he has in his mouth all shamefully. He is a toy shredder and goes straight for the squeaker, so I have to fish a plastic squeaker out of his mouth every now and again. He isn't always this mischievous, but its good to know all the ways he likes to get into trouble for his own safety. He would hurt himself if left to his own devices, so I need someone who is patient and understanding with him. He is scared of strange people, due to something before I rescued him, which was when he was about 5 months old. He won't bite or anything but he will hop around and bark if a stranger comes into the house or if someone reaches down to pet him that he doesn't know. However if the stranger has a dog he is instantly okay with the stranger. All in all a very friendly and happy puppy who occasionally likes to get into trouble.

He likes children and is friendly with them but he isn't well trained yet so he jumps on them, which could knock the kid down. Better with kids who can hold their own ground.

He has never met cats before except once when he was younger and he was TERRIFIED of the cat.
Lots of attention
