Pet care experience

We welcome your furry babies!

I have been taking care of dogs most of my life. I am 57. I have done dog training and agility with 2 of our dogs. I have had a puppy and dealt with Senior dogs too. I love to give our dog lots of attention with play time, walking and outdoor activities. I love to take walks and go to other parks too. With the owner's permission, I love to go to the dog park-Bow Wow dog park and the Akron Dog Park. I give your furry one lots of attention with play time-throwing toys-playing fetch with a ball or toy. Letting them have backyard time. We have a fenced in back yard for the dogs to be free. I also will brush your dog and pet them and give them attention, while you are away. I will treat your dog like he/she is my own dog. Another place I will take dogs is Petsmart or Pet Supplies Plus for social interaction and exercise.

Catherine and her husband (sorry, I forgot his name) were amazing! They agreed to sit Myles last minute with no hesitation. We met and Myles loved them and Pepper! Thank you so much for keeping Myles. I think you guys spoiled him too much, lol!

A+++ a fantastic person who was so caring for my little guy. Catherine provided just the right amount of updates with photos and videos of his progress / status. She took him on walks and helped him with his training journey. She’s thorough upfront to know what’s needed and is comfortable asking questions throughout. She’s thorough upfront to make the process smooth. She really earned my trust during this stay and I’d love to have her support again in the future.

Schedule

I am at home and available most days. We have a 20 year-old Son, who also loves dogs! My Husband helps out too, with walks and letting the dogs out in our backyard and is a dog person. Currently, I am not working. I have a knee problem and some medical issues that prevent me from working full time. I have plenty of time to take care of your dog.

Safety, trust & environment

We love to take walks and go to the dog parks. However, if you prefer your dog not to go to the dog park, that is fine. We could go on walks and let your dog go outside in our backyard. We have lots of dog toys, bones, balls, etc... I do have a walk thru pet gate that I set up to block off the kitchen and dining room area. We will feed our dog and your dog separately in separate rooms. I love to brush and pet dogs. If needed, we could bath your dog too. We are a "dog" type family, that is our preference. We have had fish, hamsters and also a guinea pig in the past. I grew up with a cat in our home, as a child. We will throw ball and toys for the dogs and play with your dog. We have a small crate that is in our garage, however we don't usually use the crate. If we leave the home, depending on the situation, if your dog is destructive or chewing on furniture or other items, then we will crate your dog when we leave for church or a short errand. If you have a calm dog and the dog is not destructive and well mannered, then your dog could stay in the family room area, unless you prefer that your dog is in his crate. We will use 2 dog gates near our steps to go upstairs. We prefer that our dog and other dogs do not go upstairs. As a House Sitter, I would do any needed cleaning up of any messes I make. I would be bringing my own food, as I am gluten free and dairy free. The only thing I would need is some freezer and frigerated space for my food. I would follow your normal routine for your dog or dogs. I do have occasional Dr and therapy appointments, fyi. We have a home in Akron, with a fence in our backyard. We live near a forest, it is a quiet area. We have a small neighborhood, where the street dead ends to a forest. We don't get drive thru traffic, that use our area as a "short cut".

Pets

A typical day

A typical day at our home would be like this: Outdoor time-backyard time in our fenced in back yard. Feeding in the morning breakfast Play time- bring out toys, bones- if your dog is ok with those and you are ok. I usually separate the dogs by a gate. Outdoor time-backyard time If weather permits- I will take a walk with your dog. I usually walk dogs above 40 degrees. Play time, petting your dog, bring out a puzzle to stimulate your dogs mind. I have several puzzles-where I put treats inside the puzzle and I will teach your dog how to use the puzzle. Outdoor time- going to a dog park or a walk. Sleep time or play time- whatever your dog prefers. Dinner time-separating the dogs for dinner time to feed. Outdoor time- in the backyard Petting and play time or sleeping, whatever your dog feels like doing. Bed time-dogs are allowed on our beds if they are used to sleeping on your bed. Or if they sleep in a crate or a bed, that is fine too. * If it is raining outside or a cold day, I might take your dog to Petsmart or Pets Supplies Plus for some social time and interaction with other people and dogs.

Please let me know if your dog has any special needs or diet. I will want to know if your dog needs any medication or any type of routine. Is your dog ok with going to dog parks? I would want to know where your dog usually sleeps at nighttime. I would want to know how many times a day your dog gets fed. Is your dog allowed to have treats during the day? If your dog has specific toys that he/she plays with, please let me know and bring those with you. Is your dog allergic to any foods? Any special diet?
