Growing up in Northern Ireland, I had cats and dogs (2 golden retrievers and a border collie/retriever mix) and often looked after friends, family and neighbours' pets when they were on vacation. I've lived in Montreal for 15 years and many friends here have entrusted me with looking after their pets over the years too. I had my own dog, June, who passed away from cancer in 2023. June was an Arabian Saluki rescue and was nervous in certain situations, especially around other dogs, so I have a lot of experience dealing with leash reactivity, positive reinforcement training and managing stress levels (the dog's and my own)! I have a lot of patience and a gentle approach - I will always try to ensure that a dog is as comfortable and happy as possible in my presence. The same goes for cats! I am lucky to have an extremely affectionate cat (Momo) but I know not all cats want a human in their face, so I will give them as much attention as they want (or just give them their space, if that's what they need!) I would be honoured to be trusted with caring for your pet!

Schedule
I am currently on a career break and have lots of time during my week to dedicate to your pet - either in my home or at yours. I'm available for a range of services: dog-walking, petsitting (at your home or mine), daily visits or doggy daycare.

Safety, trust & environment
If the dog is coming to my home: I do not have a yard but am 2 blocks away from Parc Promenade Bellerive, Parc Taillon and Parc Clement-Jette. I have a large crate (the travel type, not a cage) so am equipped to crate your dog if that's part of your routine. I live in a typical condo, with one large, open living area and 2 closed bedrooms. Since I have a cat, your dog would need to be comfortable with cats too. If your dog is more comfortable staying in its own environment, I can come to your home. I am clean and tidy and would be respectful of your space. For cats, I would be happy to come to your home. I cannot accommodate them in my home.
Pets
A typical day
I live in close proximity to a number of beautiful parks (Promenade Bellerive, Clement-Jette, Bruere) we can go to. I also know the quieter routes, in case your dog is shy or a little scared of other dogs. I have toys here and am used to playing enrichment puzzles with dogs - like wrapping treats in towels, hiding toys and treats in boxes or around the apartment, snuffle mats, frozen licky mats, etc. I'm also happy to organize playdates, if there are doggy friends your dog likes to spend time with. I don't have a car but have access to Communauto if there's a need to get somewhere in a hurry or if we want to go on an impromptu hike!

- My old dog had some leash reactivity and was a nervous dog, so I have experience with identifying and working with their character and needs.
