As I live in a small apartment, I will not board or host any clients' animals in my home. When walking dogs, I always make sure to have a strong hold on the leash and am constantly aware of potential dangers or sources of stress. When visiting a dog or cat at their home, I am careful to establish myself as a friend and caretaker without making the pet feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed.

I appreciate having an understanding of each dog's routine so I know what they are expecting from me. I also find it helpful to know some of the basic commands that the dog understands so that we can communicate properly. Finally, I like to know if the dog has any special needs or quirks so they can receive the best care possible.
A typical day
I love walking on any trails that are accessible from the clients' home. I also am comfortable with local dog parks if play time with friends is important for the dogs. If I am making a house visit, I will also take advantage of any yard space for outside time. Finally, I have a stash of brain and sniffing games to stimulate dogs on rainy days and as needed.

Pet care experience
I grew up with rescue dogs and cats, and I am confident in my ability to handle animals with high stress levels and strong personalities. I have taken care of neighbors' and family's pets by walking dogs, administering insulin to cats, and feeding the animals twice daily. I also participated in the puppy training of my current dog (a pitbull and golden retriever mix), so I would be happy to maintain any training efforts initiated by my clients when caring for their pets. Finally, I grew up living with and next to several big dogs (Swiss Bernese mountain dog, Saint Bernard), so I am very comfortable with dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds.
