Hi - We're based in Edinburgh - and both work part time freelance (and as digital nomads to suit our pet sitting and pet caring adventures!) so we're able to be flexible as needed. Active house swappers for the last 20 years we are passionate about new experiences and getting the most out of life and pet sitting/dog care has become a great part of our lifestyles. We have been active pet sitters for the last 4 years - and bring with us lots of great reviews! If you are interested in us for house sitting arrangements, we've been involved in house sits for 20+ year (though both pet sitting and home exchange platforms). (We have public liability insurance and an Animal Boarding Licence (ref 546253) from City of Edinburgh Council.)

Information Catherine & James H. would like to know about your pet
We've looked after small and medium sized dogs and cats, young and old. Understanding your pet(s) and their needs is the most important factor. Ahead of time its great to understand your pets schedule, a bit about their personality type, their recall off lead (or whether they're kept on lead at all times); info on any medication, meal times etc + any additional medical information. Amount of exercise they usually get. Favourite games etc. We provide owners with an easy to complete form to make it easy to handover info and give you confidence in the care your pet will receive.
A typical day
From ball games, to long walks and then cuddles in the evening. For us pet sitting is all about getting to know your pet, their likes and dislikes, energy levels and routines. Long walks either on lead or off lead (depending on recall) are something we love to do - but all according to the age and preferences of the dog and owner.

Pet care experience
The opportunity to offer love and care for a pet feels like a real privilege. Getting to know them, showing them affection, care and fun is a big part of house and pet sitting/pet care for us. We are patient, responsible and kind, and understand the need that pet owners have to share a bond with their sitters. We love to gain new experiences and memories through looking after your pet - feels like a win win to us! We understand the trust that someone places upon us to look after their pet and where applicable their home - and we take on any house/pet sits, dog walking with that in the front of our mind. (We have public liability insurance and an Animal Boarding Licence (ref 546253) from City of Edinburgh Council.)

Reviews

Catherina and James were phenomenal with our mini dachshund Jackson! They took the time to understand Jackson's needs and routine before accepting the booking and then really kept us at ease during his stay with them. The photo updates and the fact that they put his bed outside in the sun when he wanted to do so shows that they really do care about not only the wellbeing of the pet, but also their happiness!

Catherine & James are fantastic sitters! Our dachshund was recently diagnosed with IVDD and had some further care requirements and Catherine & James were so attentive and thorough, making us feel very relaxed leaving our dog in their care. Providing regular updates and photos keeping us informed on our dogs stay and how she was getting on. We will definitely be rebooking them to look after our dog and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new dog sitter in Edinburgh!

Brilliant host for Lexie. Excellent communications and a perfect home-from-home for her. We'll definitely be returning to Catherine and James for future doggy day-care.

Catherine and James were lovely with my dog. They both have such a calm and kind manner and they went to a lot of effort before-hand to gather info that would enable the walk to go smoothly. My dog was very happy to go with them and he returned looking very happy, as if he'd been on a very exciting adventure, and then slept for the rest of the afternoon. I also received photos from the walk, which were very reassuring. I have no hesitation in recommending Catherine and James and am about to book in again for future walks.
