Our dog, Ty, has some health issues and Carter had no problem taking care of him. He did a very good job. Thank you so much.

All critters were alive and happy when we got back! Carter braved the weather to take care of them, great communication as well. I felt safe leaving them with Carter.

Our dog, Ty, seems very happy at Carter's. We enjoy getting pictures during Ty's stay. We have used Carter's services before and will be in the future.

My schedule is mostly free. I occasionally give massages but that doesn’t take up a ton of time. I am active and love to take pups out to play in the worst of weather

Safety, trust & environment

Pets cared for at my home will be kept indoors between walks. They will be exercised frequently and kept company while inside. I live in a fairly rural area.

A typical day

I start the morning with a wagging tail and a fresh pot of coffee, ready to meet my furry clients with all the love and excitement they deserve. After gathering a bag of treats, leashes, and maybe a few squeaky toys, I head out to meet the pups. Each dog has its own quirks, favorite walking spots, and greeting style, so I take a moment to read their mood. Whether they’re wild with excitement or mellow and calm, I match their energy, making sure they feel comfortable and secure. Our walks vary—sometimes we stroll through leafy trails, stopping often for sniffs and squirrel-watching; other times we jog around the block, getting a good burst of exercise. I love seeing each dog’s personality shine in these little moments. They all have their routines, like checking on their favorite mailboxes or rolling in the grass, and I happily go along with each little ritual. Between visits, I check in with pet parents to let them know how their fur-babies are doing, sharing updates and a photo or two of a smiling face or happy, panting tongue. Then, it’s time for some indoor play, belly rubs, and treats before I say goodbye until next time.

1. Personality and Temperament: Is the dog friendly and social, or more reserved and cautious? Do they like meeting new people and animals, or do they need a bit of space? 2. Routine and Schedule: Understanding their regular routine, like when they eat, go for walks, and have playtime, helps maintain consistency and keep them relaxed. 3. Behavioral Traits: Are there any quirks or specific behaviors to watch out for, such as anxiety around loud noises, a habit of barking at passing cars, or a tendency to pull on the leash? 4. Health Needs: Any medical conditions, dietary restrictions, or medications? Also, knowing if they have allergies or sensitivities can help avoid any discomfort. 5. Commands and Training: Which commands do they know or respond best to? Any specific training or rules the owner wants reinforced? 6. Exercise Needs and Energy Level: Some dogs need lots of activity, while others prefer a gentle stroll. Matching their energy level helps keep them happy and well-behaved. 7. Triggers and Fears: Are there things they’re afraid of, like thunderstorms or certain types of people or dogs? Understanding their triggers helps avoid stressful situations. 8. Treats and Rewards: Any favorite treats or toys? Knowing what they love makes bonding easier and helps reinforce positive behaviors. 9. Emergency Contacts: Besides the owner’s number, knowing the vet’s contact information or any nearby emergency clinics is always wise. These details make all the difference, ensuring the dog has a safe, happy experience that aligns with their usual routine.
