Pet care experience

friend to animals//former vet tech

Hey there, my name is Carolyn and I adore animals of all shapes and sizes! I am 31 and I've been an organic farmer for 4 years now but in a previous life I was a veterinary technician for 10 years, working at a small animal private practice in Philadelphia for 7 years, the University of Pennsylvania New Bolton Center Large Animal hospital for 2 years, and UGA’s veterinary hospital for 1 year. I also spent 2 years volunteering at UPenn’s small animal veterinary ER, 2 years volunteering at an animal shelter in Philadelphia, a year working at the Philadelphia Zoo as a zookeeper assistant, and have spent an untold number of hours around horses from years of being a horseback rider (and still do!). I moved down to Athens to attend UGA’s vet school but decided I’d rather be a vegetable farmer and love on animals in my free time. As someone who used to be a real veterinary go-getter, I’m fortunate to have all of that knowledge, confidence, and experience still very much in my noggin and available if needed to respond to any situation that might arise, and if your pet needs any medications I am comfortable with accurate administration - pills, injections, transdermal, etc. You can feel confident your pets are in good, knowledgeable, mature care. I only offer house-sitting, as my two cats would have strong opinions about boarding any animals in my home, however through years of pet sitting experience I’ve found that’s the best thing for animals anyhow. By keeping your pet's schedule and surroundings as close as possible to their usual, it makes for a much more comfortable experience for your pets. I’m happy to accommodate special requests or whatever needs your animals have. I am also available to take care of non traditional pets and farm animals. I would love to get to know you and your animal family, so please do not hesitate to get in touch. Best, Carolyn

House Sitting • Feb 07, 2017

Carolyn was very (beyond very good) with my dog Leo. Leo can be a handful at times due his high levels of energy and playfulness but Carolyn seemed to keep him busy. She took him to work, and even cut his nails (which I typically have to give him anti-anxiety drugs for) before the groomer can even touch him. Carolyn was great with checking in while I was out of the country by sending me pictures of Leo assuring me that they were safe and sound. I would highly recommend Carolyn, and look forward to having her dog sit in the near future!

Carolyn watched our pup Tucker for a long weekend and she was great! Tucker was wiped and didn't want to leave when we came to pick him up! Carolyn gave me updates and pictures daily. I would definitely recommend Carolyn and will use her in the future. Thanks Carolyn!

Carolyn was great - lots of pictures of our girl and she was totally happy and comfortable the whole time - seems like a great atmosphere for here. Keeper will definitely be back if we need a sitter again and she's available :)

I used Carolyn as a dog/house sitter recently for 5 days. I was nervous at first because my dog recently developed an ulcer in his eye, was not eating well, and needed eye ointments multiple times a day. we had already booked our trip so we left Carolyn in charge. She took such great care of our puppy and sent a pictures frequently. She even was able to take him with her to work so he wouldnt be left alone all day, which he really loved! Beat of all, when we came home, our dogs eye had healed almost completely and he was a couple pounds fuller(ususally he goes on strike when were out of town). We were so happy we have already confidently booked our next trip and have Carolyn watching him again:). Great job Carolyn!!

Carolyn did such a great job with my two pups Jax and Juno. She sent frequent photo updates and always replied quickly. I could tell they were having a blast with Carolyn and I was able to enjoy my vacation knowing they were in good hands. Thanks so much!!
