Your Dog is My Full-Time Priority I am a full-time pet sitter, which means my entire day is dedicated to the care, safety, and happiness of the dogs staying at Paws & Pine Retreat. I have made the choice to dedicate my life to this work, so your pup will never be an "afterthought" or left alone for long periods. Your dog’s day is defined by the freedom of independence without the pressure of forced social interaction, while also grounded by the steady structure of the resident pack's sleep-eat-nap-play schedule. Their day is a cycle of activity and rest. They wake for breakfast and morning play, spend their energy in solo exploration or quiet enrichment, and then transition into deep, restorative naps in their own space. Because there is no forced mingling, the dog can fully relax, knowing their personal space is respected. It is a life of low-stress stability, where they can simply focus on being a dog and having fun! When we are cooling off inside, I provide a peaceful environment that includes Dog TV and soothing background sounds to keep everyone relaxed and entertained. My goal is to mirror the love and structure they get at home so they can have a fun, safe experience while you are away.

I am Carolyn and here at Paws and Pine I’ve created a fun, low-stress alternative to traditional daycare and boarding. Your pup will have a private, climate controlled cabin, with its own fenced outdoor area within a larger fenced play area. If your dog is more of an introvert, this is the place. There is no forced community play. Every dog that stays here, whether for hours or days, can enjoy independence. My property is tucked away in the beautiful pines of North Walton County, while also being conveniently located in Freeport. The cabins are situated in my front yard, safely fenced in and always in my vision if I step in for a snack. The full time residents here, Blazer, Juno, Monkey, Jenny and Jojo have the entire fenced backyard for their home base, leaving plenty of room in the front yard for your dog to play with me or enjoy it's own quiet time in the sunshine!

Ideally, we will set up a meet and greet prior to your dog's arrival date. You and your dog will come visit the retreat, explore the yard and check out the cabins. During that time, I will ask some questions about your dog and you can fill me in on any particulars about your furry friend.
A typical day
Eat, sleep, play, nap REPEAT !! Squirrel hunting, fetch and frisbee are popular activities at the retreat. Digging is permitted and is also a popular activity. All activities are typically followed by a sunbathing and nap session. On a rainy day or if it's too hot, your dog can chill in it's private cabin with AC/heat, a bed and DogTV.

Hi, I'm Carolyn! I am a huge animal lover and believe all animals deserve respect and kindness. I have recently committed my career to caring for dogs. Connecting with dogs is my favorite thing in the world. I know finding a go-to dog sitter can be challenging, I want to be that for you! I have been a devoted pet caregiver since childhood. My life has always revolved around animals. I volunteered at the Atlanta Humane Society when I was younger and more recently worked with a local Wildlife Rescue group. All animals have souls and I love surrounding myself with them. I am now focusing that lifelong passion into providing care for your dogs at Paws & Pine Retreat. Safety is always first, but then FUN!! I currently share my home with five rescue dogs (they hang in the backyard, while your pup has plenty of personal space in the large front yard and private cabin). My crew has taught me how to manage different temperaments, understand body language, and provide the patience that rescue or nervous pups often need. I am also the proud parent of two tortoises. My experience with exotics has made me a highly detail-oriented caregiver who understands that every animal has specific environmental and dietary requirements. My Commitment to You: I know how stressful it can be to leave a family member behind for long periods or even just hours. My mission is to provide a peaceful, safe environment where your dog isn't just "staying," but having their own fun, stress-free experience. Whether it's for a few hours or a few days, your pup will feel safe, comfortable and loved. I provide the same attentive love and care to my guests that I have given my own pets for a lifetime.
