Pet care experience

Dogs, cats & the odd horse story

I’ve been an animal person my whole life - 10+ years of experience pet sitting for friends, colleagues, neighbours, and family including years spent with my aunt’s cocker spaniels, who’ve been part of the family since I was little. I’ve also spent over a decade riding, training and competing with horses, which taught me how to read body language, stay clam, and be confidently assertive without being harsh - skills that translate really well to dogs, especially boisterous or nervous ones. I have also solid basic training/obedience experience, so I can help reinforce good habits while you’re away. Whether your pet is a snuggly lap cat or a high-energy dog, I’ll treat them like my own - because for years, that’s exactly what I’ve done for the people close to me. Caroline was absolutely fantastic taking care of Spooky. She kept us updated each day, sending pictures and videos which was very reassuring. Spooky warmed up to her very quickly and was very happy throughout the time she was with her. We will definitely book in with Caroline in the future.

Caroline is a very charming and warm-hearted personality. She loves animals and especially cats and dogs a lot and I would be glad if she was my neighbour so I could choose her to look after my cats. You can not ask for more than what she brings: empathy, reliability and a lot of respect towards animals and people. I’m sure your pet will love Caroline from the very first second. She has always loved dedicating her heart and her time to animals!

Caroline has a really natural way with dogs, and our dog Joey—who is very fearful and was hit by a car as a puppy—loves her and is very trusting around her. Caroline is very reliable and friendly—she’s just a great dog person :)

Your dogs will be in good hands with Caroline, there is no doubt about it! Caroline has been a close friend of mine for many years, and I’ve seen her love for dogs throughout all that time. She is incredibly caring, responsible, and attentive, and genuinely loves spending time with animals. She is someone I trust completely, and I know she would treat any dog in her care as if it were her own. Whether it’s going for long walks, giving lots of cuddles, or simply making sure your dog feels safe and comfortable, Caroline will put her full heart into it!! I would happily leave my own dog with her anytime and can wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and loving dog sitter!

Caroline is the most reliable and attentive pet sitters. You never have to worry about whether things are being handled properly while you’re away. What stands out most is her range of experience: she’s equally comfortable with dogs, cats, and has trained horses, which speaks to her genuine understanding of animals. She’s highly observant, quick to notice small changes in mood, appetite, or energy, and she clearly has a real, natural affection for animals rather than just treating it as a job. I’d recommend Caroline without hesitation to anyone looking for a trustworthy, experienced sitter for pets.

Schedule

I'm available for overnight boarding and house sitting every day of the week, as I'm home in the evenings and overnight regardless of whether I've been in the office. I can also cover drop-in visits and dog walks daily — fitting these in before and after work on office days, with much more flexibility on Fridays, some Mondays, and weekends when I'm home all day. Day care and doggy day boarding work best on Fridays and weekends, when I'm around throughout the day, and I can occasionally take these on Mondays too if I'm working from home — though this varies week to week, so it's best to check with me in advance for Monday bookings.

Safety, trust & environment

I don’t have pets of my own, so any dog or cat in my care gets my full, undivided attention. My flat doesn’t have a garden but it does have a small balcony, and there’s a large park just 5 minutes away, so dogs get plenty of walks and outdoor times as part of their stay. Whatever the setting - my home or yours - safety and routine come first. I always follow the feeding schedule, medication, and walking routine you provide, so your pet’s day stays as close to normal as possible. I do a thorough check of the space for anything hazardous (open windows, toxic plants, small objects, escape routes) before pets arrive, and I keep emergency contact info (yours and your vet’s) on hand at all times. I send regular photo/video updates so you always know how your pet is doing, and I’m comfortable following any specific instructions around routine, anxiety triggers, or house rules to keep things as consistent as possible for your pet.

A typical day

A typical day with me is relaxed but full of attention — plenty of playtime, cuddles, and one-on-one focus so your pet feels comfortable and cared for the whole time. Depending on the pet's energy levels and preferences, we might head out for a walk or two, play fetch or tug in the park, or just enjoy some quiet time with toys and belly rubs on the sofa. I like to keep to their normal routine as much as possible — same feeding times, same walk schedule — so there's minimal disruption while you're away. I'll also send photo and video updates so you can see exactly what your pet's been up to, and I'm always happy to tailor activities to whatever your pet enjoys most, whether that's high-energy play or a calmer, low-key day.

To make sure I can give your pet the best care, it really helps to know a few things in advance: their daily routine (feeding times, portion sizes, and any dietary restrictions), any medications and how they're administered, their temperament around other people, animals, and situations they may find stressful, and any behavioural quirks I should be aware of (e.g. reactivity, resource guarding, escape tendencies, or specific triggers). I'd also love to know their favourite toys, walks, or activities so I can keep them happy and comfortable, along with emergency contact details and your vet's information just in case. The more I know beforehand, the smoother and safer the visit will be for everyone involved.
