During this time, I learned: - Recognizing signs and symptoms of illness in animals - Proper animal handling techniques - Preparing medications, injections, and vaccines - Working in a clinical veterinary setting Back in my hometown in the US, I also volunteered at a pet shelter and was a member of the Saturday dog walking club, where I regularly took shelter dogs out for walks and socialization. >>Specialized experience with senior dogs: I have experience caring for dogs of all ages, but I'm especially experienced with senior dog needs. I've cared for many aging dogs, which included: - Managing multiple daily medications (up to 3 different times per day) - Providing physical assistance when needed (help with stairs, mobility support) - Respecting points of injury or sensitivity, avoiding touch in painful areas - Understanding and honoring their need for personal space and gentle handling Recently, I've also pet-sat for friends here in Germany, which reminded me how much I genuinely enjoy spending quality time with dogs.
