I have had dogs with me my entire life! I have also had a cat, rabbits, hamsters, a horse, fish, a gecko, and a bearded dragon. I really enjoy the companionship of a pet, can’t imagine life without one! I volunteered at an animal shelter for 3 1/2 years before I moved. Most of the time was spent walking dogs and caring for them. This gave me a lot of experience with getting to know new dogs, and how to make them comfortable. Spent time with dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and energy levels. I did very well with the shy/nervous ones that came in. I also fostered several mama dogs and their puppies. Really enjoyed those times! Just recently started volunteering at the Atlanta Humane Society. My dog, Koda, is 12 1/2yrs and weighs about 92lbs. He is definitely elderly, and has taught me a lot about elder dog care. I have had this sweet boy since he was 8 weeks, and had a lot of fun with him in obedience classes! I have also worked for eight years as a companion caregiver for senior citizens in their homes. I definitely understand how important trust, dependability, and kindness are coming into someone’s home to give care. Very comfortable with feeding and giving meds. I enjoy walking, and it’s even better if a dog is by my side!
